Not Effective On Course, Thick Hair

I purchased the Complete Airwrap kit for myself and my daughter. We both have ultra-thick, coarse hair - Type 2C. Most styling tools we have owned require us to use as maximum heat of 450 degrees to get any results. We own the Dyson hairdryer and I have been 100% satisfied with that so much that I ordered an EXTRA one. The Dyson hairdryer does more for us than this Airwrap kit. I wanted to help my daughter with her drying and styling needs because she has MS and any effort in getting ready for school or for the day leaves her exhausted. I thought the Airwrap would be the answer. I was wrong. We have only been able to use 1/3 of the attachments (flat brush and larger air wrap wands), but we always have to follow up with drying with the Dyson dryer and with another brand flat iron. THEN the air wraps do make subtle waves - even when we follow all recommended instructions of the cool air shot at the end of the curl hold. The curls do not last more than 5 minutes. It was disappointing but I feel stuck with the product. We are willing to try the flat iron but are skittish to buy another Dyson hair tool until the technology goes thorugh another update or revision after the initial release. I am keeping an eye on tips for women with thicker hair in the use of this tool, but unfortunately, the only models Dyson uses are women with fine, thin, and already straight hair with an occasional woman of color with hair texture beyond 2C used in advertisements.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We do recommend the hair be damp before using the Airwrap, and while there is an attachment for mild drying for the Airwrap, the Dyson Supersonic™ is a great tool to use to pre-dry before using the Airwrap.

Worth it

It’s an amazing product. I will admit that I don’t use the curling attachments but everything else works great for me. I’m done with my hair in a little over 5 minutes. That alone makes it worth it but having the straightening brush is a big plus.

I was given my Dyson Airwrap as a gift. I was hesitant using the dryer in the beginning and really did not use it completely for about three weeks. Once I started mastering the technique, I was amazed. I was able to style my hair in ways I could not achieve with a traditional hairdryer. And my hair felt much more healthy. I love my Airwrap and so does my daughter!

Some disappointing design elements for price

Overall, this is am amazing hair tool. The unit is ultra quiet and lightweight. The round and smoothing brushes do exactly what they should. I absolutely love the ease of use, no longer having to hold a heavy blowdryer in one hand while manipulating a brush in my less dominant hand to get my hair styled. Definitely a time saver. The results, softness, volume and shine, are exemplary. The barrels require practice. There is definitely a learning curve and well worth that effort. Takes several uses to determine the level of dampness, best way to section hair and grab the right amount of hair for each barrel curl. No hot metal to burn hair or hands, this tool is AWESOME. A key function, use the COOL SHOT for 20seconds. No more time consuming, two-handed blow-dry, then rollers, and waiting. The dryer attachment is for a rough dry, intended to be used to damp dry. The dryer attachment is not for two-handed sleek styling. As for the design misses: I am extremely disappointed at this price point that the lovely case is NOT a carrying case, NO HANDLE and no snap closure. A travel case should not be an additional purchase, it should standard at this price! The other design miss is the cool shot operation. Since this is key to styling and really needs to be held for 20 seconds to set the style, it should be comfortable to use. The design would be best if it were a push in, push out button. Instead, the design is a flat metal push up button that is not very comfortable on the thumb while holding to style a full head of hair. A hair stylist using this all day needs better ergonomics. Every user needs a handle and closure snap travel case. I hope in the future a larger round brush is offered to fit this model.

AMAZING!

I love love love my Airwrap. I bought the custom one with long barrels and highly recommend that for medium to long hair. This is such a fun and easy hair tool to use, and my curls last for days without touch ups in between. My hair definitely looks and feels healthier and thicker than when I'd curl it with an iron. I'm sooo glad I bought the Airwrap & I'm excited to see improvements in the health of my hair. If you are someone who styles your hair with heat often & this tool is in your budget, i HIGHLY recommend it.

Where Has This Been All My Life!?!

I bought this after my daughter in law used a friends and told me it was the easiest thing ever! She was so right! I have never been able to curl hair without leaving crimps on the ends. I now have beautiful curls and everyone thinks it is because of me! I am so in love with this product!
