Long, Straight, Smooth Fine Hair
on June 9, 2023

I titled my review Long, Smooth Fine Hair because, as some of you know, it is hard to keep curl in this kind of hair. I have a mixed review for the Dyson AirWrap. I love the ergonomic shape and weight of the product. I am very impressed by the Customer Care I have received; including an online consultation with a stylist who was very knowledgeable and patient. What other company would offer that?!
My issue is my type of hair. I have found that I do better curling with the smaller wand and a spray bottle a few days after washing. My hair is just too soft and without texture after washing. I have to use curl scrunching gel, volume boosting spray and hairspray to get any staying power. The hair looks great, but doesn’t last. The best I’ve achieved so far are volume and beach waves, which is good, but by the end of the day, my hair is pretty tangled and straight.
That being said, if your goal is achieving tight bouncy curls, and you have very long, straight, smooth hair, this is probably not the correct curling product for you. I do love the low heat when drying, the round brush and the regular brush for drying out my hair.
I intend to keep trying. I really want to get the curls to stay for me.

Convenient hair dryer

Works really good at drying the hair fast, I love the round brush attachment most!
I was excited about the curling attachments but it appears that unless your hair is prone to curling or you use a ton of styling product before the curl doesn’t stay like a normal curling iron curl does

Great product with a couple drawbacks

I’ve been using my air wrap almost daily for about 3 months now. I like that I really can’t burn myself, and how quiet it is. Also, it’s one of the only drying devices I’ve used that doesn’t make my hair frizzy/staticky, which is a big plus.
I knocked off one start because Dyson really needs more attachments for different hair types. The current attachments are probably great for people with thick stranded hair. I have short (barely jaw length) fine stranded hair, and I have a lot of it, so it’s always been hard to style. I have all the attachments for short hair. My hair just slips through all the brush attachments because the bristles are too wide to hold my hair, so I end up using the other hand to hold my hair against the attachment, which moderately works. The round brush holds my hair the best, but is really too big for the length of my hair. I will usually finish off with the curling attachments because they are small enough to get the gentle curve to my straight hair. I have tried to use them as intended to curl my hair, but find if I don’t clip back every other piece of hair that I don’t want sucked into the wand, then all my hair gets sucked in and doesn’t curl properly.
I would love it If Dyson came out with a smaller diameter round brush attachment, as well as a new flat brush attachment with either more bristles, or include the boar hair type bristles in between the regular ones.

fits easily in small hands

I have small hands, and most hand tools are hard to hold. The styler is easy to grasp and manipulate. The accessories work very well. First time using the curler barrels I ended up with Nellie Olsen style sausage curls- before breaking them up into gorgeous disorganized curls. Where was this tool when I was a teen?!? I am glad I bought it, but it is so expensive it us not an impulse buy item.

Unbelievablely fast and efficient

Just got this in the mail yesterday and tried it out today and I CANNOT BELIEVE how fast it is! A regular blow dryer takes about an hour to dry my hair (I have a lot of hair). This took 20 minutes to rough dry and then curl (i'm betting it'll take 10-15 next time). And it holds the curls very well, which I wasn't expecting since I have never been able to hold a curl with a curling iron. These stay so well, it looks like ribbons! I brushed out the curls after styling and they still stayed tight. I actually need to figure out a way to loosen them more without making my hair poofy.
[Pic is with no product except heat protectant, after brushing out curls]
I will say, the first couple peices I didn't really know what I was doing. Figured it out after a minute and ended up redoing the less nice curls, even though they were dry. So it definitely works on dry hair too, but it's a lot faster (like 5 seconds of heat and 15 of cold blast per peice) when wet.
Hard vrush attachment works great too, haven't figured out the smoothing dryer yet but I probably won't use that attachment anyway. Used the hard brush attachment when rough drying my hair and it was drying it too fast, so ended up stopping and using the curling barrel. I think as long as you towel dry you don't need to rough dry. Also, ignore the way they section in the videos on here. You need to split into more sections so you don't accidentally pick up already curled hair. Of course this is probably not the case if you have long hair, but shoulder length like mine needs more sections than 3. I don't think anything shorter than chin length will work well with the curling barrels.
My only complaint about this as of right now is that the filter cover falls off really easily. Hopefully that issue is resolved in future versions of this, but it's a mild inconvenience for what this is.
And yes, it's annoyingly worth the insane amount of money it cost.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this Dyson airwrap and within 6 months of owning my airwrap it broke. I called every number I possibly could and nobody wanted to help me fix my Dyson. When I finally got a hold of someone they told me I had to take it to one of there repairs shops to fix my blow dyed. Where the man that worked lied to me and told me I could be getting my replace. I then waited 3 months for them to tell me that I wasn’t going to get my replacement that was ever they told me was wrong. Then went with the next steps which was to send in all the parts I had left to get my replacement and after another 4 months of playing telephone they told me. My package was lost in the mall. Therefore, they will not help me get a replace Dyson and that I would have to pay to get a new one. The company as a whole was awful to try to get information from.

Overall Amazon Product - Few watch-outs
on October 5, 2020

I first started daydreaming about this product about a year ago? A B/C list celebrity did a live video. I pulled the plug and purchased when my blow dryer broke and the two curling irons I bought this year were ‘meh.’ The curling attachments are on the short side in terms of the barrel. My hair is slightly longer than shorter length and I have to do tiny sections in order for the suction to grab the ends. Your hair needs to be wet for the best hold - when I’ve done damp hair or almost air dried it doesn’t last as long. But the heavier the wet hair the smaller the sections because the ends are too damp/heavy to suck in. However, zero knots!!! Even when the suction pulls in more hair than I intended - comes out smooth. The two different barrel directions I still can’t figure out before I put next to my hair. I’m a little nervous how long the dryer will last since the instructions are to “stop” the dryer to release so it’s a lot of start/stop during my styling session. I made sure to get the warranty to be safe. I’ve used the other brush and dryer attachments each once and 1000% prefer the curlers. Once I brush it out it gives me the salon blow out waves I’ve always dreamed of doing at home. Without a brush! So far only once did I release the barrel when trying to turn off so I’d say the user experience is pretty easy/intuitive. I’ve impressed dozens of people when I tell them my styling came from a blow dryer - not an iron! My hair stays soft and wavy without hairspray!
