Wasn't convinced until I had it in my own hands

LOVE this. I'm a no frills non routine kinda person and wouldn't normally pay this much for a hair dryer/styler let alone own one. I never used to have a hair dryer but I started with the Dyson dryer as it was cheaper than the airwrap. The diffuser did it's job but this is pretty WOW but I still needed my perm. I used to get perms twice a year and all I need is one of these!! It's quick and you can pretty much have your hair ready to go in 10-15min looking naturally curled. I'm impressed with it..and myself for being able to stick with it. The trick is not to have your hair too wet so if you're fresh out of the shower, do everything else you need first and get to your hair last. This pic was from my first go when I just received it, put it through my hair and let it do its thing!

I was very excited about this purchase....but the tool did not meet my expectations. I tried curling my hair wet, damp, and used hairspray. After about 30 min - hour, the curls completely fell out. I also found it took me much longer to use it than my traditional hair tools. It typically takes me about 45 min to do my hair....the dyson took over an hour and I wasn’t happy with results every time. I wanted to love it so much, but I unfortunately returned it after trying it for a few weeks. Would not recommend if you have long & thick hair.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Dyson Airwrap Styler was designed for those who want the versatility of a styler to create curls and waves, or a smooth finish. Dyson Airwrap™ wraps entirely through the use of airflow and the naturally occurring phenomenon of the Coanda effect. Air, when propelled at the right speed and pressure, naturally follows an adjacent surface, entraining surrounding air. The Dyson Airwrap™ styler creates a spinning vortex of air around the barrel that attracts, wraps and curls hair. The combination of damp hair, airflow and not applying extreme heat to hair during the drying process helps to lock in your style, whether you're looking for a straight finish, waves or curls.
We're sorry to hear that you found the styler is taking so long to style your hair. There is a learning curve to using this styler, and it can take some time to get used to the different tools/attachments. If your experiencing curls dropping out, a few tips to help improve would be ensuring the hair is damp before styling, that the barrels are held in place until the hair is dry, and to use the cold shot to set the curls. If you begin your hair wet, and use the pre-styling dryer prior to curling, you may wish to not dry your hair as much, and then when using the barrels to curl, ensure the hair is completely dry before releasing. If you start with dry hair and use a spray bottle to dampen hair, you may not be getting the hair wet enough prior to using the barrels. You can also experiment with a styling/setting spray once complete to help hold the curls.

Customized set with long barrels

I purchased the customized set with the long barrels, which was absolutely necessary for my longer and thick hair. I had been hesitant to buy this before the longer barrels were an option based on all the reviews of not being able to wrap much hair, but now that it's an option and you don't have to bother buying a set with the short barrels, it's a complete game changer. This is 100% a luxury item and does not replace my dyson hairdryer, but if you can afford it, plan on using often, and care about not damaging your hair, this is amazing. My favorite look is using this for beach waves, once you hand wrap your hair, you can let go and it generally holds. I also pin the curls instead of using the cool shot because it takes too long to cool down. Check out youtube videos for other hacks. Great purchase and as always, Dyson makes incredible, innovative, and high quality products!

Skeptical at first..

I’ve been torn about buying this tool for months. After watching many video reviews and reading hundreds of customer reviews online I decided to take the plunge. Why on earth did I wait so long!? I love it so much! My hair is bouncy and smooth and I can get 4 days out of one styling! I’m so hooked on this tool! I don’t even use my hairdryer anymore because my hair dries faster with my Dyson brush and has more volume! This tool has changed my life. Thank you Dyson!!

I have lived in athletic clothes and a pony tail for my career for 13 years. It was time to grow up and join the professional world...hair and make up and business casual attire.
This tomboy learned to use this tool in an hour! Now my hair is ready in less than 30 minutes after a shower! Before it took 2-3 hours to straighten my hair!

I have curly hair, so when I use the curlers it causes a lot of frizz. I would say buy with caution if you have curly hair. The other add-ons work great with my curly hair.

Just, WOW!

I have put off buying this due to the price, but decided since I'm stuck at home for COVID and not spending any money, I would give it a try. I had no idea I would love it so much - TOTALLY worth the investment. First, I can fix my hair faster than if I dry it, and straighten it and curl it. I can combine some of these steps. Secondly, the Airwrap feature works better than I thought - exactly like shown. I had no problems getting the hang of it almost immediately. Third, I find that it gives me more natural looking hair. For me, I like the black bristle brush to finish drying my hair and get rid of frizziest, and the curling barrels (both sizes). I'm still working with the round brush to see how to most effectively use it, and I find that to be the most difficult of all the attachments, but I just need to spend more time with it I think. I have no regrets at all about making this purchase - it's easy and fun to use and I am very happy with the results.
