We finally had some nice weather and got to put together our sandbox! It was quick and easy to assemble, and aside from using our drill, all the parts and hardware were included in the box. It took about 30 minutes to assemble with two people. The kids immediately jumped in! It feels really sturdy though I wouldn't older kids climb on it when the lid is closed. We used ten 50 lb bags of sand to fill it and that was perfect. I love the bench feature and being able to keep the sand clean by closing the box is perfect.

Sand box with benches

The cedar wood is soft and the week after we got it outside, the winds ripped the bench off. My husband reattached the bench and added locks to keep it from happening again. As long as the wood holds up, I think that this is a great option for a sandbox. It gives a place for me to sit while playing with the kids and keeps the stray cats from using it as a litter box. You can use it with sand, dirt, peastone or other nature items (like leaves, nuts or pinecones)
