Perfect size sandbox for my 3 and 4 year old. Only thing I didn’t like was the bottom layer is not attached. I was only able to attach it with a staple gun
Really pretty to look at. Took a little but to assemble..after 2 days of playing, one of the bench seat backs came apart. Screws are way too small for that hinge. Wood itself is also not nearly as good a quality as it looked. Already showing signs of weather damage after a month of use.
We live on a large inland lake in the U.P. of Michigan and have a few gatherings each summer. 2 years in a row, our Labor Day Event brought us beautiful days but cooler temperatures that were not really swimming weather. So... we put one of these sand boxes next to our Patio and filled it with our lake sand so that kids could still have beach fun even in cooler weather. Then we fly kites! This sand box is a good value for the money.
After just a few months of use one of the seats broke. Not like a little break, the wood piece cracked completely in half. We will need to purchase new wood to fix it and even then I don’t think it will last long
A nice sandbox. Had the option of building my own with pressure treated lumber or buying this one. Probably for a similar out of pocket expense but assembly of home built would have taken longer.
Pros: Cedar type wood - should resist insects and rot. Easy assembly and zero clean up compared to home built. Cover that becomes seats Perfect size for our 2 yr old and should be good size for several years at least.
Cons: Large gap (<2") between the two sides of the cover when closed (going to try a door draft guard to cover) Two of the planks we assembled a little crooked leaving another small gap in the cover. Don't know why such a large gap was left but that is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5.
Sandbox as a whole is very nice, we followed all instructions and the lid does fit. There is a 1 inch gap so that the lid doesn’t close completely. We did try to turn the lid and attach it to to the other sides, but the same result happened. We bought because of the lid. Pretty disappointed.
I bought this sandbox for the grandparents house. ALL the kids love it! Assembly was tedious... but absolutely worth the time and effort. The kids love that it has seats and the parents love that it closes for coverage.
