This dimmer works very well with LED lamps.My bedside lamp is connected to the wall switch. This dimmer allows keeping it on 'low' light, provides just enough for visibility without a harsh glare when getting up during the night. LED bulbs do not dim to as low a level as incandescent bulbs. If you want very low light, there is a similar lamp dimmer for incandescent bulbs.

At the dimmest setting it is a bit brighter than I had hoped, but I bought a bulb bright enough for reading and when it is dimmed, it makes a great mood light.
