Don't Waste Your Money

I have been cutting grass for 55+ years, and I have never disliked a mower as much as I am disliking this mower - I wish I had gotten my grass-powered mower repaired, instead of buying this mower. This mower gives a poor, uneven cut - thick, heavy grass, or light grass. When you disengage the self-propulsion, it's impossible to pull the mower backwards, until you push it forward a bit, or "bounce" the mower. This mower is extremely difficult to maneuver in tight quarters, or when you have to cut around something in your yard. The battery does not last nearly as long as claimed. All I can say is, don't waste your money.

The issues you have described with cut quality, maneuverability, and battery runtime are not what we want our customers to experience. Runtime can vary and depend on a few factors, including but not limited to using self-propelled, self-propelled mowers do use more batteries than standard push mowers as more power is being demanded from the battery to run the blades and the wheels. Grass texture and consistency. Cutting height and lawn size, when grass is not too thick and well maintained under 4 inches. For added runtime, we recommend purchasing an additional battery, Greenworks 80V batteries are interchangeable with 80V units, the higher the ampere-hour (AH) rating is on the battery, the longer the run time will be in comparison to a lower ampere-hour battery. The self-propelled feature is not usable in reverse. They are designed to lock when pulled back to prevent damage to the drive belt. If you are using the self-propelled feature, the mower will attempt to move forward and will be difficult to move backwards. You would have to release the self-propelled lever to pull the mower backwards while still holding onto the start lever. Great mower that I would buy again

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this mower three months ago with a string trimmer and blower. All 80v. This is my first mower ever and first time mowing a law. It’s a very intuitive machine and I got the hang of it quickly. It’s quiet for a mower and I love that I don’t have to deal with gas. Maintenance is easy also. Battery life claims are correct but I can’t cut my lawn in one charge. My property is a half acre but is on a pitch. I think the claims of 3/4 acre on one charge are in perfect conditions and not running turbo. I’d still buy it again and I don’t mind changing batteries. This only works because I have two other batteries. I recommend this produce and this company.

I thought this would an answer to prayer after owning gas mowers for over 60 years. Shortly after I receive this mower it 2022 it started giving a MR23 code. This means the right mower is overheating. I contacted Greenworks and they were great and sent out a new motor. It was late fall so when the motor arrived I put it on the shelf for install in the spring of 2023. Installed it and it did not work. So I put the old motor back and mowed. The mower would mow about 3/4 of my 1.5 acre and throw codes. I let it coold and kept going. When I contacted Greenworks they said they changed there policy and no longer send out parts and I was required to take it to an authorized repair shop, 60 miles away. This was peak season and I knew it meant taking it there, on a trailer. Dropping it off and likely waiting a few weeks to get it back. So I suffered through the summer and figured I would do it in the fall. In the mean time I looked at the motor they had sent and found a teminal that was not fully seated in the connector. I fixed the terminal and reintalled the motor. Everything worked. So for nearly a year I have been a happy camper. Then about a month ago it started throwing the same code along with ML23. I am fed up with constant shutting down of the mower. It now only mows half my front yard, about a normal yard size and I have to let it cool down. Never buying Greenworks again.
Pros: Easy to Use, Quiet
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

An MR23 code indicates the right blade motor has overheated, which shuts off the blades to protect the system. Allowing the mower to cool, clearing debris from the deck, checking fully charged batteries, or adjusting mowing speed and height often resolves the issue. I ordered a new blade after seeing that the one on it was pretty badly chipped up. This one was exactly like one i removed. Paint finished was great and the blade had a perfect edge on it. this thing cuts great. Zero complaints and price was fair.
