Wish this lawnmower was strong like a gas power la

The machine isn’t very strong blades of grass stay up. The mulching and suction seems to be less stronger than a gas power lawnmower.
My wife seems to think it’s a play toy.

Hello Champo,

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with this product.
The issue with the cut can be many factors: grass is over 4 inches in height and too tall, the underside of the deck needs to be clean and clear of debris and the blades need to be replaced or sharpened seasonally. Here are some more cutting tips that may be beneficial:

1. Set the mower to the highest cutting height (or 1/3 of the length of grass), mow no more than 1/3 at a time.
2. Mow when grass is dry.
3. Mow in the morning or late afternoon to reduce the heat stress on newly cut grass.
4. Alternate mowing patterns each time you mow. As grass develops a grain based on your cutting direction it will lean towards the direction of your mowing path. Changing the pattern allows better vertical growth and helps to keep the cut neater.
5. New or thick grass may require a narrow cutting path.
6. For the best results keep the lawn under 4" in length and walk at a steady pace to allow the blades to cut efficiently.

Great Mower - but just one strange characteristic

Got the 80V 21" mower. Very easy assembly and great looking mower. Charged up the battery over an hour and then off and running. Only used it three times so far but got a good hour of runtime and manages to just cover my front, side aand back lawns. Much quieter and easier to use than my previous gas mowers - the benefits of less air and noise pollution are worth it I believe. It's a solid mower and should last a while but will report back. I went for the highest powered 80V version as I saw a lot of reviews where the lower voltage/ampage batteries had shorter run times, power and got quite hot - so far I'm pleased with the power and performance.
One surpising thing I have found with the mower, and not mentioend in any reviews, is the fact that there is no wind vortex under the mower that I had with all my gas models. My gas mowers would have a strong wind effect from the rotating blade that sucked up any long straggling grass into the blade for a much tigher cut. This mower will leave the odd uncut long strands of grass that happen to be laying flat as you mow over. Critically the vortex would also enable me to suck up/dislodge any damp leaves or debris that settled into the lawn and often killed the grass. This was especially useful in Fall/Autumn with lots of leaves on the grass - looks like I will now need to go over the lawn with a rake or blower, which defeats the aim of being greener I guess. Not sure if this is the same for all electric mowers or just Greenworks but I think it's a big design flaw. I am sure Greenworks could design an alternative tilted cutting blade that provides the vortex - I assume this may not be the current design due to power efficiency for the battery - but I would take a reduced run time if this meant i could clear up the leaves/debris in one pass wtith the mower.

Amazingly powerful and quiet

I have owned this mower for several years now and it is a pleasure to operate. It can handle any thick or wet grass. My neighbours appreciate the quieter motor. (than my previous gas engine mower). Very reliable. No problems with it yet. I like the automatic switching of the motor to rev up with the grass is tougher to cut.

Year later

I've had this lawnmower of over 1 year so far, and I'm still content with the performance. My lot is is about less than half an acre. Sometimes I have to charge it twice to get it 100% done. Might get another battery to help. Satisfied with it doing most the backyard, side, and front lawn. Glad I went with the 80v instead something with less power.

Two years and going strong

I purchased this mower two years ago and it is still going strong and runs as well as the day I bought it. Bought a 4ah battery with it and I am able to do the entire yard, which takes over an hour, on a single charge. Runs just as good as a gas mower! My next goal is to get more in the 80V line.

Works great for my smaller lawn

I got this when I bought my first home earlier this year. My yard is maybe a little over 1/4 acre, so I didn’t want a riding lawn mower for that. Plus I didn’t really have a place to put it and I sure didn’t want to have to deal with gas and oil for one. A battery powered mower was the way to go. I am very happy with the way it performs. I even got a few other products to use around my new home.

Cuts great

I have used this to mow 3 times now. I am pleased with the cut. I bought just the tool figuring I could use the 80V battery that came with my Green works Cultivator. I can only get 12 minutes of running time with the mower, when using the self propel feature about 50% of that time. That is a disappointing runtime! It is hard to rate the mower without factoring in the battery inadequacies.
