better than expected

I really bought it for the battery to give my chain saw extra run time, I thought it was self propelled but it's not. However the light weight & large wheels make it reasonably easy for a 62 year old to push if you're smart & mow the most level direction rather than going around in circles. The biggest surprise was that it mulches better than it side discharges, especially surprising since I am not an enthusiastic mower & the grass get's very tall sometimes. I like that it's very light with the battery out & is east to flip over & clean thoroughly when finished - I just store it in a spare room between mows. I still wish I had self propelled but this one works well for what it is. As for the battery - it works in the chain saw but makes it quite heavy.

Best mower I've ever used, by far.

I had pretty high expectations when ordering this mower and still, I was pleasantly surprised after using it the first time. It's light, it's comparatively quiet (vs. a gas mower) and I don't have to deal with the stink and the hassle of gasoline and oil. It was easy to set up right out of the box with minimal assembly needed. The design is well thought out (controls and adjustments are easy to use) and the quality seems excellent. Most importantly, the Greenworks Pro 80V does a fantastic job mowing my lawn - much better than the relatively new gas mower I replaced with it. I'm especially impressed by how well it bags the mulch - I don't even have to rake much anymore, as the mower takes up almost all the pecan leaves in my yard. Battery capacity is better than I expected too. Plenty of juice to mow my small-ish back yard and large-ish front lawn with about 1/3 of the charge to spare. I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

Great lawnmower, lasts for an hour on each charge and does a good job. Easy to use. Won’t be going back to gas.

Buy this mower!!

I'm wrapping up a 2nd summer with the 80v 21" push mower and I still can't stop singing it's praises. It rivals gas push mowers I've owned and surpasses the other battery powered mowers I've tried. Never once have I had to worry with gas, oil, a clogged carburetor, or spark plugs. The clear green cover for the battery compartment has broken off and I've replaced the blade...& that's it. I simply push the button, squeeze the handle, and I'm back at it. If anything were to happen to this mower I would purchase it again with absolutely no hesitation.

Won’t stand grass up for cutting

I’ve had this model for three years now and cannot find a way to mow my lawn without having to go back over the entire lawn manually with a rake to stand up the grass that the lawn mower missed, then go over it again with the mower. I saw a statement on greenworks’ website indicating that their Heavy Duty replacement blade might address the problem, but it’s been on back order for literally years. I’d be quite happy with the mower if green works would address this serious flaw.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello TominGH

Thank you for your feedback! Sorry to hear you are not satisfied with the cut of this lawn mower. The cause of streaking could be the way the user mows, but it also may be the result of some generally causes that create this problem. Overlapping each pass in the lawn you make with the lawnmower allows the mowing blades to contact each blade of grass and ensures no areas are missed. The overlap need not be very large. Overlapping by only 1 or 2 inches is enough. As you complete a pass and make your turn for the next one, line up the mower’s wheels with the indentation the wheels made during the previous pass.
Another suggestion to take into consideration, a clean mowing deck. Over the course of the mowing season, the underside of the mower’s deck collects dirt, mud, and grass clippings. Even if you mow your grass when it’s dry, the blades still attract some moisture, which tends to make grass clippings clump underneath the deck. This debris hampers both air and grass clipping movement inside the deck. Streaking could be one indication that the deck needs cleaning. With the battery removed or mower unplugged check the underside. Scrape off grass, mud and dirt clinging to the deck by using a wired brush be careful not to cut your hands on the mower blades.
Lastly, bent blades and those with severe nicks in them also cause streaking. Examine the condition of the blades while you are cleaning its deck. If a blade is bent, replacing it is the best course of action. The same is true with if a blade’s cutting edge is badly damaged. Because the blades rotate at high speeds, collisions with rocks and other solid objects are enough to damage the blades beyond the point they can be ground to good mowing condition. The cutting edge of lightly nicked blades or dull blades can be restored by using a bench grinder or have the blades sharpened by a professional.
