Glad I purchased this. As you know if you own a chainsaw the bar oil will leak out a bit even if the saw is not running. So no matter where you set it oil will get on things.
With the Greenworks hard case and a shop towel in the bottom of the case the oil is contained and not all over your garage floor. Also the case with the saw inside is easy to transport. I would recommend this and so far all the Greensworks products I have purchased. I have the 80V Chainsaw, 80V 24" HedgeTrimmer, And the BL80L2510580 CFM Brushless Axial Blower (Gen II) 80V. I am very happy with all of these products so far and have had good support from the company if needed. I Would recommend all of them.

First, the order process is a bit archaic, and because so I missed out on this super great buy, I ended up with a lesser deal where I got the cordless saw, and battery that’s it. Second, the saw works great, I’ve cut down 3 old trees, that needed to be removed, the saw did its job, I’m very happy about the saw.

I needed to down a few smaller trees on my property and this saw was perfect for the job. Having 2 batteries with one charging while using the other left unending cut time. The reduced frustration with starting and clean-up was very welcome. I highly recommend the saw and the sale price was well worth it. Only knock on the whole order was that one of the matches of the case broke already.

I already have a 40 volt max Greenworks saw, but I'm in the process of cutting down many mostly hackberry and mulberry trees to clear an area for our proposed log cabin. Since that is the case, I decided I should get the 80 volt, 18 inch model. I'm very glad I did as it works wonderfuly for what I'm asking it to do. I would give this bit of advice to others in similar situations: Although it is very expensive, buy the optional 4Ah battery. You will be glad you did, once you see how long it can work on one charge.

Disappointing after 10 Minutes

I bought this today and was excited by the easy to use features. It was light weight, quieter than previous saws I’ve had, and easy to handle. However, on a full charge it was done cutting after only 10 minutes and I only cut small bushes about 4” max. I let the battery charge and same thing again. I would have thought the battery would have lasted much longer than this for how much we paid for it. I will be returning this for a longer lasting saw.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Sorry to hear of the challenge you are experiencing. The cordless brushless chainsaw, GCS80421 provide up to 150 cuts with fully charged 2Ah battery.
I would like to go over the charging procedure with you to see if you may find it helpful.
1. To charge the battery align the guide rails on the battery pack with the corresponding slots found on the charger. Slide the battery all the way down into the charger until you hear it click into the charger. If no click is heard, the battery has not been fully secured into the charger.
2. The battery should not be able to slide out of the charger without holding down on the battery latch. If the battery can be easily slid out of the charger, the battery and charger are not fully connected.
When the charger is plugged into the outlet, there should be a power light that appears indicating the charger is receiving power. When the battery is fully inserted into the charger a secondary light will appear indicating the battery is being charged. There are also LED lights located on the battery that indicate the amount of charge the battery has left. To activate this feature, push the button also called the BCI switch on the front of the battery. These LED lights will now illuminate. For example, if all four lights illuminate, this shows the battery is fully charged.
If the issues persist, please contact us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS) we would be happy to troubleshoot the issue further. If necessary, we can also discuss the warranty process and what your next step would be.

I bought this saw to carry with on my 4 wheeler to cut fallen trees and brush that blocks the old fire trails we tend to ride. Cuts quickly and quietly and although I bring a 2nd battery along just in case I have not needed it. Also great for early morning or late evening cutting because it doesn't bother rest of the people camping around me. I have used gas chainsaws for nearly 50 years and I have always hated the noise and fumes so this saw is a pleasure to use. I am not going to rate the durabilty as I haven't had it long enough to know if it is durable or not. I may re-visit a year or 2 from now
