[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I own several of their tools and have been happy with them all so far. When I read about this product I noticed that some complained about the chain falling off the bar constantly. Mine came with the chain already installed and I assumed that it was ready to go. My second cut, sure enough the chain fell off. After checking I found the tension screw was loose, what happens when you assume. I put the chain back on adjusted tension properly and the unit has been performing flawlessly ever since. The hedge trimmer works just as well.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned several gas-powered chainsaws over the years and one corded electric chainsaw. This saw surpasses them all. You can't beat the power to weight ratio, cordless convenience and the low maintenance. For general homeowner use this saw cannot be beat.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fantastic chainsaw. I have owned several gas powered chainsaws and a corded electric saw. Nothing beats the saw for convenience and low maintenance.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have not used the item yet but all of the tools we have purchased from Greenworks have been excellent.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works good when the chain is on. If you make horizontal cuts, chain pops off. I've tried tight and looser chain settings and it doesn't matter, chain WILL pop off on horizontal cuts.
The worst part is once the chain pops, it contacts the main drive gear and deforms the kinks so it doesn't fit in bar. Complete garbage. I've filed down every bottom link to get it to fit bar and it works, until chain pops off again. Then it's back to square one.
If the chain, bar, and main gear all worked perfectly together, this would be a 4 star review. This unit cuts great for vertical cuts. It does not have an electrical brake and keeps turning one you let off trigger. Unless GW finds an answer to my chain pop issues, I'm going to send it back.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Stoked-on-spokes. Thank you for sharing your experience. New chains tend to stretch, and we recommend checking the chain tension frequently and tension as required. The chain is correctly tension when there is no sag on the underside of the guide bar and when the chain is snug but can be turned by hand without binding. A chain tension while warm may be too tight upon cooling. Check the "cold tension" before next use. Here is a video showing how to tension the chain (https://youtu.be/H9bYDwptiCk). [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This has been a great saw. Far exceeded my expectations. Cut clean and fast. Handle large trees as well as small ones.
