It’s true—you get what you pay for. In the hopes of entering the home laser jet market with something I could afford now, I bought this printer. It connected just fine the first time to Wi-Fi. And now, it neve stays connected. What a waste of money. Upgrade and get a Canon instead—wish I had just saved up the money and waited.

Hi there.
I’m sorry that your printer has failed to maintain a reliable connection to your Wi-Fi network. I can certainly understand why the frequent need to re-establish the connection would be aggravating. I want to help you resolve this problem. I hope the resources I’ve listed below guide you to that end.
First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various issues, including wireless connectivity difficulties. You can find that page here: - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics
You can also find troubleshooting guides specific to your printer – including ones on connectivity – in addition to user manuals, how-to documents and software updates here: - support.hp.com/us-en/product/model/30836610
If connectivity does not adequately improve, I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess what’s happening and find the best course of action. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
- Model number - Serial number - Your location - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
There is no manual that I can find that answers my questions. It will not copy 2-sided (from the document feeder), which I was led to believe it could. Copying from and to A4 format still copies as if size US-letter, the bottom part of the text on the page is missing. Nowhere can I find how to set it. Printing only one envelope requires removing all the paper out of the paper tray; there is no single page/envelope feeder. Again, perhaps there is but I can't find it in a manual. Sometimes the WiFi connection seems to be lost, and I can't use the HP Smart app until after I restarted my computer.

Hi there.
I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been unable to use all the features on your printer and that you’ve experienced difficulty with loading and printing different paper sizes. I can certainly understand why having inadequate instructional materials would leave the device feeling like a mystery – definitely not what anyone has in mind when buying a printer. I want to help improve your experience, so I’ll direct you to some resources I hope will make that happen.
To learn more about your printer and all its features, or for help solving problems, you can access user manuals, how-to documents, troubleshooting guides and software updates here: - support.hp.com/us-en/product/model/30836610
You can also visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various tasks and issues, including cartridge installation, print quality, operating-system compatibility and connectivity. There you can find a general-purpose tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If you use Windows, the tool will help identify and guide you through solutions to a wide range of common printing and scanning issues. You can find the page here: - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics
If you need assistance with anything, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents can be longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
- Model number - Serial number - Your location - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
The Laser Jet MFP M234sdw is okay as a printer once it is setup. I can print documents on one page and using the auto duplex feature. I had to move the printer so that I could connect it to my wireless router using an Ethernet (RJ-45) cable. I was never able to connect the printer using the HP Smart app. I entered and reentered my Wi-Fi passwords multiple times, but the printer never connected. The HP troubleshooting features were useless in diagnosing and resolving the issue. (I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8030 connected to my wireless network.)
Printer arrived on time well packed. Installed without issues. Tested well functioning as expected no problems. Quality product. Highly recommend by my computer service person. Who I have known for years. This is the 3rd or 4th HP printer I have owns over the years and they were all quality products. However this is the first laser printer I have owned. I bought it because of the great experience I had with HP ink jet printers over the years.
This printer is good. Ive only had it for a short time, but it prints well. When i can get connected to it, it is nice as i can print from anywhere in my house to two hours away in another town. Then sometimes I cant connect to it. I'm sure it is something I'm not doing right, but it usually happens after a storm when the power goes out. It's like I have to go through a set up again and I forget how. The instructions are not clear. I'm currently experiencing this again.
Good printer, poor scanner. Printing is very good, scanning wastes a lot time and never works the first time. Jobs keep failing, software very primitive
This is a very good printer and comes with a good price tag. I use mine primarily for printing and it works quickly and efficiently. The instructions are easy to follow for those who need them.
