After researching and lusting over stand mixers for more than a year, I finally decided on a KitchenAid Artisan. This was a great decision. I kind of wanted the Pro but I just didn't have space for that in my kitchen. The Artisan fits under my cabinets and I really love the tilt head. The performance is exactly what I need. If you're debating stand mixers, watch America's Test Kitchen's stand mixer comparison on YouTube. They demonstrated quite well why the Breville and Cuisinart mixers cannot compete with a KitchenAid. (One thing ATK didn't mention in their comparison is that it's a mistake to focus on wattage; it's the torque that matters, especially if you're making bread dough. KitchenAids have torque!)

I have used this mixer about a dozen times since I purchased it, and every time I'm amazed and wonder how I ever did without it. I have made muffins, bread, cookies, and more. It takes all the work out of baking, and puts all the fun back in. This thing is a tank…it feels solid and as though it will last for years. My mom has had one for about 30 years or so, and she's been telling me for months how I needed one…I finally went for it, and I'm so glad I did.
