I got the 7 quart specifically because it was supposed to be able to handle larger batches of dough. It does not. It could barely handle a double batch of cinnamon roll dough. It didn’t matter what speed I used, it dragged. Then it got really hot to the point that I finished kneading the dough by hand because I was afraid the mixer was going to burn up. I’m very disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Defective - had to return

This mixer died within 30 seconds of operating it for the first time. I tried a different outlet, but got the same result. Returning it was a pain. Very disappointed. Since then, I've read other reviews describing this same problem.

Not what Kitchen Aid thinks it is!

Trouble from the beginning with managing the lift bowl-spring lock. Very difficult. getting bowl on the lock; not at all easy to release the bowl. Last time my husband had to snap the bowl in place. Getting it back off was extremely difficult for him and he is not weakling! So it sits unused. We are debating trying to deal with Kitchen Aid, or seeing if the spring lock can be persuaded to work or putting the whole thing in the landfill. any suggestions, folks?

Disappointed

Received two different mixers, both died immediately. First one after only using about 2 min. then replacement died while using the second time of use. The first time I thought it to be a fluke...defective...it happens. Second time this happened I knew there was something wrong here. I looked on line and it appeared that there were dozens and dozens of people having the same issue. I have a smaller kitchen-aid than the one I purchased here and I love it. I also had a 5QT lift that I had for 35 years and recently gave to my daughter when she moved out.....reason I was purchasing a new one. Since I have been a Kitchen-aid user and lover for years, I never thought to look at the reviews. I sent an email to Kitchen-aid inquiring and never received a response. I ended up purchasing an Ankarsrum mixer since the holidays were approaching and I did not have confidence in purchasing another 7QT lift.......and could not be without something for the holidays. I really miss my old one but very disappointed with the quality and build of the new ones.

Don’t try to make bread with this

It works great for mixing everything except bread dough . I bought it hoping to make large batches of pizza dough and bread dough for our large family. The motor gets hot and it won’t knead for more than 2-3 minutes.
