I'm impressed with how this little vacuum picks up dirt on my tile floor and on carpeted areas. Easy to clean and does stairs great too. The only improvement would be if it had a little longer cord.

A 1986 California state statute commonly referred to as California Proposition 65 requires manufacturers to notify consumers of the presence of any chemical which the state believes is toxic. One of the thousands of chemicals on the list is lead. Trace amounts of lead are used in the manufacturing process of PVC coated appliance power cords. However, these trace amounts are well below any recognized threshold level which raises concern. BISSELL Homecare, Inc., as well as approximately 100 other consumer appliance manufacturers, has agreed to include a specific warning in product literature shipped with products containing PVC coated power cords in response to California Proposition 65 requirements. The warning states; "WARNING - the cords, wires and/or cables supplied with this product contains chemicals, including lead or lead compounds, known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, wash hands after using." This, or similar language, was scheduled to appear in their product literature effective September 3, 2003. BISSELL proudly stands behinds our products and remains convinced that our products do not present any significant health risk to our consumers.
I have also found it to be useful in a myriad of situations, both overhead, and on the floor. It is simple , light and quick. In addition to cobwebs, cat sand, and screens, I have now found it very useful for picking up my hair BEFORE I use my new upright. My hair is down to my waist and it's everywhere so it gets caught in the the beater bar of the upright and I have to stop to cut my hair out every time I smell the rubber belt burning. I just do a quick once over with the FeatherWeight and then am able to use my upright for the deep clean. I clean the dirt cup of the FeatherWeight by removing the handle and placing the whole unit in a plastic bag. I then separate the dirt cup from the motor, empty it into the bag, and with rubber examination gloves, clean the filter. I then take a disinfectant cloth to clean the cup inside and out, dry it with a paper towel, and put the vacuum back together. I remove my gloves, dump them into the plastic bag, and very carefully tie the handles of the bag so I don't get a faceful of dust, and dump in trash bucket.
I live in a small 1 bedroom apartment in NYC. I am also over 40 and always looking for solutions to get rid of the broom and mop to make cleaning easier and more convenient. This little vac handled that perfectly. It is not too loud and great for storage. It works like a charm. Absolutely great on hard floors. We have even used the crevice tool to clean the desktop computer. I do not use it on the area rugs I use a Bissel sweeper for those.
I love my lightweight Bissell! It sucks up hair from 6 cats, the litter scattered about and the bits of food all over my kitchen floor! MY problem is I don't vacuum often enough, but that's me. The dirt cup is easy to empty and I love the design, popping off the bottom or the handle and you've got a handheld. The only thing is I wish it had a better edge cleaner. But I still love it! Now if only I could teach the cats how to use it, it would be purrfect!
I have 3 of these vacuums (one for each level of my house and the garage). Love it since it is very lightweight and easy to use. My only negative is the "bagless" feature is rather messy when emptying the container. Works great on both hard surfaces and low pile rugs.
