Purchased the Griddler just before Christmas. Really like the idea of having one appliance to use both a a grill and griddle. The instructions are really simple to follow, the fact that the plates can go in the dishwasher are and added advantage. I have used it for cooking bacon, hamburgers, steak, grilled cheese sandwiches, even boneless pork chops. Everything came out perfect.
I have used the griddler for pancakes, eggs, bacon, french toast in griddle mode. I have cooked pork chops in grill mode using it like the panini grill. I did grilled cheese using the griddles in panini mode. So far so good.. The pancakes didn't get very golden so I will put some butter on there next time for color. But non stick works well. Bacon cooked well and grease catcher works nicely. The pork chops were moist and tender (disclosure, I did brine them first). My only issue is it is sometimes a challenge to open it flat when closed. May just be me getting used to it.
This has turned out good for me, but my daughter continues to use a waffle iron, a family size GF grill and another family size grill for herself. So, I like it except when using the flat cooking surface for eggs. It is not level.
Great product. We use this griddle entirely for our cooking and grilling. The CUISINART grill cooks and grills efficiently and is very easy to clean. We could not be happier with this product.
This is the second Griddler I have had. I used the first one so much that it finally died after about 3 years of moderate to heavy use (2 or 3 times per week). I wanted to get another one since I had the waffle plates which won't fit on the new model Griddler. I finally got a a new one recently. I like being able to make big waffles again.
With my first Griddler I used the scraper so much that the non-stick coating began to come off. With my new one I soak the grill plates after use and then use a sponge to clean the grill contours. I hope to make the coating last longer this time. I am not a big fan of non-stick coatings and I would prefer it if appliances were made with stainless steel instead. Of course that would probably drive up the price.
I give it 4 stars instead of 5 stars due to my past experience with the non-stick coating and the fact that it did die. However, the price of the appliance is modest enough that it can be replaced every few years.
