The Vent Hood That Others Will be Judged Against

For those who do serious cooking, this hood throws some serious air. A bench test revealed, even at its lowest setting, this hood exhausts more air than than an undercabinet microwave at its highest setting, all while being whisper quiet. At medium speed, it is pumping out more air than most major brands at high speed. And at high speed, it is blasting air out its exhaust, only matched by some high-end models; however, this hood is much quieter. This unit is a heavy-duty performer for those who want a quality product that looks great on the outside and impresses on its insides. Depending on the consumer, there may be one arguable mark against it. For those who want their hood's light with multiple intensity settings, this hood only provides two: on and off.
Bought and self installed this at the beginning of May. Works very well, runs quiet on the lower settings, can finally get a good crust on a steak without setting off our fire alarm. We haven't done much testing of the steam cleaning feature yet. DIY install was a bit of a pain as we skipped building a jig to hold it up (it is very heavy), and the mounting screws are buried deep behind the fan making it difficult to reach without the right tools. If I could go back in time, I probably would have paid extra for professional installation. But the instructions were clear and and all the necessary parts were included.
Been using this range hood for a few weeks now and it gets the job done. It pulls out smoke and cooking smells pretty well, which was the main thing I was looking for. My kitchen feels a lot less smoky when I'm cooking and I don't have to open the windows as much as before.
This range hood does not allow any odors or smoke to escape into your home. Fits perfectly where previous hood was located. Love the features that control features. You cannot go blind with the overhead lights.
For a recent kitchen renovation, we got a Hauslane UC PS-38 range hood.
Pros: It's sleek and quite quiet and most of all, it's functional! Before we got it, we had a fan on a chain in the back wall of the house. It got terribly gummed up over the years and essentially stopped working.
We're not concerned about that with the Hauslane because of the steam clean function. We love how it looks in our new space.
Cons: Setting the clock was not intuitive and the manual did a poor job with the instructions. I was also displeased that no one I spoke to at Hauslane could tell me right away how to set the clock. I spoke to three or four people, all of whom told me I'd have to leave a message and have someone get back to me. I called on a Friday, which meant I'd have to wait the entire weekend to learn how to set the clock. That is unacceptable.
Thank goodness for YouTube. Now the range hood clock is set and it's working like a dream in our dream kitchen.
My only regret is not purchasing this sooner. It would have saved me so many years of opening windows and turning on fans to stop the blaring smoke detectors. I'm glad that I did my research on this one. It easily handles the heavy smoke of 500° stove top searing. The obvious fact that it's beautiful is just the icing on the cake!
Outstanding quality and exceptional suction power! Although I rated it 4 stars, the installation process was subpar. I may not be a professional handyman, but even I have common sense. I highly suggest hiring professional installers.
