The design of this LEGO set is absolutely stunning and well thought out, showcasing creativity and attention to detail. It was a joy to build, and the final look is very impressive. However, I was disappointed that the bricks did not stay together as securely as expected. Two of the three golden ingots and the orange fruit fell off with minimal handling, which made it a frustrating experience
If LEGO could improve the sturdiness of the connections, this set would be perfect. Overall, it’s a visually fantastic set, but the lack of stability detracts from the experience.
If you love the Lunar New Year sets as much as I do, this set will not disappoint! Instructions were easy to follow and you get options for the design on the fan.
Let me start off by saying I’ve built literally hundreds of sets from +4 to 18+ to the most complex technic sets. The good fortunes set was the worst build experience I’ve had with a Lego set yet. The colosseum was repetitive but satisfying. Same with the Eiffel Tower and the notre dame. The end results made them worth the build. This set, however, was repetitive, fragile and not that good of a display piece. The ingots kept falling off every time I moved the set to add another element. The persimmon is not even attached to anything so of course it kept getting knocked off as well. The colors don’t go together nicely at all. The bright red with the teal, and orange of the fruit clash in an unpleasant way. I was so excited when I first saw this set released but was bitterly disappointed by everything about it. I immediately took it apart and put the half-full gallon sized ziplock bag in storage.
If you are looking to build with others, this is a really nice set. There are multiple components so you can build things simultaneously or “out of order” and it doesn’t affect anything. I started by building the fan because it was the part I was most excited about. I’m slowly working my way through the other components. While the fan, vase, scroll, persimmon and ingots are meant to be displayed all together, each component could easily be displayed separately.
Christmas gift for my 8yo daughter from her grandparents. Was a fantastic set to build along with her. The end product was stunning. The fan has two design options and we chose the two magpies with blossom branch. You can also easily remove the set pieces for play but we’ll likely just keep it for display.
