Unfortunately great until a year later

Made the switch from a normal toothbrush and loved it. Really easy to use, feels squeaky clean after the full 2 minute timer. Unfortunately it’s now been a little over a year and it seems the inside mechanism is falling apart/leaking brown and black residue that stains my sink ceramic. It looks like rusty water or black oily sediment comes out of it when I turn it upside down or lay it sideways after brushing. I really wanted to like it and use it for a long time but it seems like my unit wasn’t really made too well. The problem started when I noticed a louder noise from the previously quiet motor; the metal tip started wiggling a little and you could feel the inside pieces wiggle with the tip, producing a ridiculously loud rattle during usage. Overall, I would be weary of spending on another sonicare considering it really only properly laster 14 months:(
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am 69 and a new electric toothbrush user! At first it tickled a bit, but now I really love it! We will see if it is making a difference the next time I visit my dentist. I am quite sure it will. Mouth feels fresh!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I asked my dentist which electric toothbrush would be the best to use for my inflammed gums and to reduce plaque. She recommend this one (and others) but I liked the esthetic and reviews of this one. I would highly recommend this brand as its sleek, easy to use, and has vibrations and little sounds to tell you if the battery is low or certain things in reference to the toothbrush head . I really like mine and super easy to travel. I think it’s cleaner to travel with rather than a handheld toothbrush . Only thing I notice …. I brush my teeth to hard something so that stops me from brushing as hard since it makes a noise BUT! My toothbrush head doesn’t last as long and becomes very dull. So that’s something to be aware of since the replacement heads aren’t cheap. But it will probably force me not to brush as hard
I purchased my Phillips 3100 toothbrush at the recommendation of my dental hygienist, and I love the toothbrush, BUT, I was extremely disappointed when it started to fail only 6 months after I purchased it. Twice, it turned on by itself (after turning it off, I walked by the bathroom later and heard it buzzing and jumping around). Once, it got very hot while on the charger. Then, I started having to charge it every 3 Days or so (instead of every two weeks). It stopped holing a charge. Finally, the Amber “time to change the brush” light went on and would not turn off even when I tried to reset it after putting a new brush on. The good news is Phillips replaced it under warranty. Just received the replacement today and I’m hoping it lasts longer than the first one did! And today the first one won’t even turn on at this point.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife likes the low intensity option. It is annoying that a chager is no longer included. Fortunately we have a charger from a previous purchase.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When the handle gets wet it gets slippery as it is round. A ridge or two lengthwise would allow a better grip.
