Don't buy

Do not buy this. It routinely stops during use and the blades seem to lower on their own, digging into the ground and ruining patches of lawn, especially when using the bag. It also stalls frequently and has been more hassle than it’s worth.

Hello gran1.
Thank you for your question. If the mower stops during use, there could be a few issues that could be causing this.
1) check to see if the unit or battery is too warm. If either is warm the unit may shut off. There is an internal circuit breaker in our batteries. Take the battery indoors and allow it to cool for about 30 minutes and try again.
2) Make sure to start the unit correctly. Always push and hold the safety button first, as the safety button is being held down use your other hand to lift the bale handle. Once the unit starts release the safety switch and continue to hold onto the bale handle.
We ask that you clean out the underdeck of the mower and ensure that the grass bag is empty. Any build-up of debris could affect the performance of the unit and prevent proper power. Do not spray water under the deck of the mower. For caked-on grass, use a scraper to get rid of the grass, and then you can use a damp cloth to wipe off loose pieces. Finish by wiping with the dry cloth. We also suggest removing the blade and fan to clear out any debris around the motor shaft.
If, after attempting the troubleshooting tip and, the problem persists. We recommend contacting our customer support team for assistance with properly submitting a warranty claim. They can be reached either using the online chat function, on Greenworks Tools page, accessible by clicking “Chat with an Expert” in the bottom corner of your screen, Chat with a Live Agent I Monday - Friday: 9:30am – 5pm EST or by calling 1-888-909-6757 between 9AM and 7PM EST, M-F. Amazing Mower With Great Features
on May 26, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I hesitantly bought this well reviewed battery powered push mower as I was tired of fixing any one of my gas powered push mowers every time I needed to mow but I was skeptical of the power anything battery powered could produce and/or that I would be charging the batteries 5+ times during each mowing session. So far I've been proven wrong and love this mower. I have to mow my 3/4 acre Centipede and Bahia grass lawn at least once a week and so far this mower knocks it out with ease. A second battery is definitely recommended but the single battery runs long enough for me to be ready for a break (about half to 3/4 of my lawn). For me a self propelled mower is a must with my lawns slopes and this mower propels great. You could even get in a slight jog if you set to max. Great feature. Slight learning curve with the self propel as you will want to let it go a few seconds before you want to reverse or the rear wheels wont turn backwards. But only a very slight inconvenience. Also, I love the size of the 25" deck. You wouldn't think upgrading from a 21" to a 25" would make much difference but it reduces the number of passes a good amount. Overall, a great mower and experience. Absolutely worth spending a little more for this mower if you are in the market for a new mower. Recommending this mower to everyone. Absolutely the mower you want.

Severely underpowered for regular lawn
on May 18, 2025

I bought this mower about a month ago, decided to diy the grass cutting this year. I have a regular lawn that’s quite large, (over 0.5 acre) and the lawn is regularly fertilized. This mower is not keeping up even if I cut the lawn every week. When I set the height to 4, it barely works, but when the height is set to 3, the mower struggles a lot and frequently stops because it gets jammed up with grass. The problem is the design, the edge of the blade is too thick and too far from to the cutting deck.
The mulching attachment is a nonstarter on this product. With mulching attachment, the mower jams about every 3-4 feet.
With the bagging option, you’ll have to empty the bag every 2-3 mins, otherwise it’ll jam up too. Again I’m cutting the lawn weekly and this is not even keeping up. The included 4Ah battery can barely keep cutting 2000-3000 sqft at best.
If the motor had another 5-10 horse power, I’m sure it would’ve been a different story. Unfortunately this mower is just too underpowered and overall a poor design. Other reviewers have pointed out other flaws, like plastic gear that have no replacement parts etc as well.
Had I read more reviews in advance, I would’ve avoided this mower.

HelloMP3inNH
We are sorry to hear that you do not recommend this product. Many We are sorry to hear you are unhappy with the time you are getting from your Greenworks 80v self-propelled mower. Runtimes and area coverage can vary depending on several factors. Grass height, grass type, mulching, and operators’ technique etc. Uneven ground, trees, bushes, and other obstacles on your lawn can significantly decrease the amount of area you can mow effectively with each pass. Your mowing pattern and technique can also impact on how much area you can cover each time. If your lawn has significant challenges, you might need a mower with features better suited for your specific conditions, like a zero-turn mower for tight maneuvering. We have a variety of options for a range of household lawncare needs. We hope the above information has been helpful. If you would like more details on what units may be best suited for your needs, please contact us through Live chat direct on our site (www.greenworkstools.com) or call Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Couldn't wait to get it out the box and try. Easily put together and use. I used the mulch feature @ a 4 setting on my St Augustine grass. The machine handled it smoothly and mulched the grass very finely.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the 25" mower much better than the 21" mower. Very much like the placement of the
2 batteries. Much easier to install & remove for re-charging. Wider width makes it less time mowing.
