I BOUGHT MY 1ST GREENWORKS 80V, NON SELF-PROPELLED 21" MOWER 3YRS AGO AND COUDN'T BE HAPPIER. THEN, THERE WAS JUST TALK OF A SELF-PROPELLED VERSION OF THE SAME MOWER COMMING DOWN THE PIKE. I WANTED THAT VERSION AND NOW I HAVE IT AND IT IS BETTER THAN I HAD EVEN IMAGINED. THIS THING IS USER FRIENDLY IN EVERY WAY, SMOOTH, QUIET, EFFICENT, DOES THE JOB WITHOUT A HICKUP, JUST WISH I HAD IT 3YRS. AGO. EXCELLENT MOWER

My wife got this for me 2 summers ago so have used it a lot and it works really well both for lawn mowing and mowing down cover crops for tilling, which it does better than my previous 6hp name brand 21" mower. The 2amp hr batteries will actually charge as fast as I can mow! No complaints at all, good product

This was the first of several Greenworks 80V tools I bought, back in early 2015.
We have two properties (our residence/office and a rental), and this mower is instrumental in maintaining the yards of both properties.
As far as my satisfaction with the product - the title says it all.
I use it at least 10 times during the year (not much in the Winter, the grass doesn't really grow until Spring); the first cut of every year in late March or so is usually VERY high and dense, wet, wild (not turf) grass. But this mower manages it very well. It bogs down a little sometimes on the first cut of each year, but it manages to pick itself up and slice through the 12-13" tall grass without nearly the fuss that my previous gas-powered mower did.
Winterizing is a breeze - basically, it's just a matter of cleaning it thoroughly, inspecting and sharpening the blade, and lubricating all the moving parts before putting it away. When you take it out to use it in the new year, it just works. I've never had that experience before, even though I carefully winterize my gas-powered tools.
There are only two small issues I have with this device:
1) When I bought it, they didn't have the self-propelled 80V model. I was very disappointed last year when I found out they had released that mower; I would very much like to try it. The property we live/work on has numerous slopes and my previous gas mower (when it was working), which was self-propelled, made mowing this land quite bearable. Pushing a 50+lb. mower up hills is very tiring work and I am torqued I didn't get that one.
2) the self-adjusting rotation speed. The machine's hysteresis for the force-feedback on this feature is not nearly tight enough - it always takes a long time to respond to thicker grass, and on patches of varying density (as others have reported), it keeps missing the leading-edge. It would have been so much nicer to have had OPERATOR ADJUSTABLE speed (as most gas-powered devices do) - I can pretty much always adjust it correctly myself.

I purchased this to replace my old underpowered cordless mower that I had used for 5 years. This mower is so much better. It has lots of power, never gets bogged down and honestly has more power to cut deep grass than smaller gas mowers do. I really love the storage option that locks the bar so you can store it upright. This provides easy storage during the off season. The 5AH battery lasts my entire lawn and could probably mow it twice without charging. Charging is very fast ( <1 hour from empty) unlike my old mower that took 14 hours and weighed 25lbs. The deck is metal, so it feels fairly heavy and sturdy. The only complaints I have; it's a little squeaky and i've had to oil the metal a few times and I wish they would add is a manual switch for the high power mode it automatically kicks into when needed. When mowing uneven grass it sometimes does not kick into high power mode quick enough so you have to go back over spots that needed it. All in all this is the best mower I've owned, no maintenance, easy use, quick charging, good runtime, good power and quiet. My neighbor has borrowed it and was really impressed with it as well. It is a little expensive compared to other cordless mowers but well worth it for power and quality it offers.

Came delivered sooner than expected:) LOVED the way it was placed in the box with wheels attached! The last mower I bought, the wheels had to be attached to the mower! Was not happy about that:( Plus, I found out I couldn't attach a grass-collector bag to it! But with my beloved GreenWorks 80 v mower, I can drop in the grass carrier and remove easily! My son bought me a snow blower by GreenWorks first and then I bought the weed wacker! Then the 80v mower and all three tools utilize the same battery n though the battery is the least powerful, I can mow my complete yard front and back with out recharging! :) The mower has been a great blessing because I have a bad back and really needed a way to collect the cut grass! And because the grass collecter is so easy to attached and dump my back really appreciate it big time!!! In fact I just mowed most of my yard today and it cut my time in half! Also love how the weed wacker can do edging! Very powerful! Enjoy that! Can't say enough about these wonderful tools! In fact I raved about the mower to a neighbor last week!!!! Also, told her about how EASY it was to assemble! That means a lot to a guy with a back!
Not many companies that sell products that have to be assembled are that thought out when assembly-time comes!!!!!<<<<

This is a picture of the first time I used this lawn mower. I was pretty impressed. It never struggled to get through grass which was taller than the mower itself, even though I mowed at a normal walking pace.
A fully-charged battery only lasted 10-15 minutes under those conditions. I was still able to get the entire lawn done in less than an hour.
Under normal mowing conditions, the two standard batteries which were included with the mower are enough to get the entire lawn done.
Best cordless electric mower I've ever used (out of three). Powerful, quiet, and low-maintenance. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is the prohibitive cost of the higher amp hour batteries.

In the 25 years of being a homeowner and mowing all that time, by far the best lawn mower I have ever owned! I love that it's quiet, doesn't smell and can last while I mow the entire yard, blade works perfectly, easy to operate and it looks cool too!
