Big upgrade from Quest 2

As a former Quest 2 user, this is so much better. Even though the mass is basically the same, since it has a smaller footprint it feels better. The speed increase is significant. Games run smoother.

Great upgrade but far from perfect

The visuals and audio are a fantastic upgrade from the Quest 2. The edge-to-edge clarity of the pancake lenses leave the Fresnel lenses of the Q2 in the dust. It even accommodates eyeglass users much better with its adjustable eye distance setup. The IPD adjustment is also much improved. Stock audio has a much needed bass boost. The ringless controllers with their improved haptics are much better than the Q2 ones. So far, tracking appears to be no worse than the Q2's.
The color passthrough is actually useful, and you can read your phone or use the computer to change a setting without having to take the headset off. But it's still to early to see whether "mixed reality" becomes something more than a novelty.
However the included elastic strap is still lousy and becomes actively uncomfortable after a while. An aftermarket strap is sadly a must. And why did they move the 3.5 mm jack to the other side of the headset? If you bought Q2-specific short cable earbuds, they are largely useless because the audio will be reversed.

compared to the quest 2, it's 33% slimmer, has a 2x better GPU, better graphics, higher resolution, a higher field of view, coloured passthrough, depth sensor, better headstrap, looks cooler (in my opinion), new eye distance wheel instead of 3 locked eye distances, making it more customizable to people's faces, better controllers, lighter controllers, smaller controllers, controllers lost the tracking ring, the only thing that's kind of annoying is the price, but i mean that isn't a really big deal because this is better than the quest 2 (and quest pro in most aspects, which is $1k,)
overall very, very good headset, looking forward to what meta does next.
(don't even get me started on this compared to the apple headset, it does 90% of what it does for cheaper. the only thing the apple headset does better is the passthrough, but i mean who's paying 3500 dollars for a more expensive quest 3 with slightly better passthrough.) anyways bye bye chat :3

Good but not next gen!

Im not super impress with passthru its grainy and library is just quest 2 titles. So apart from nicer lenses its more a quest 2 plus than a next gen. No face or eye tracking. Battery worst than q2 bc cpu is more powerful.
Unless you are a vr crazy like me go with a used quest 2 until price drop
