Good upgrade

This headset is a good upgrade from the last. The sound is noticeably better and the visuals are better. There is some weird grain on my screens that I haven’t heard anyone talk about but other than that they are good. The form factor is beautiful and the new cameras are good. You can finally read your phone in vr. Also the depth sensors are cool. However, the game selection at launch was TERRIBLE! There was literally not a single launch title with this headset. That was disappointing to see. But, other than that and the terrible battery life is also disappointing. It seems like a downgrade. But other than that it is a nice upgrade if you save up enough money for it you should definitely consider buying it.
First things first this is the absolutely best VR you’ll get for the price and it’s fantastic. The lenses, ease of use, content available, and ecosystem is unparalleled. If you have 7x the budget for a Vision Pro or a gaming pc plus a headset then sure you can get better graphics, but NOTHING comes close to the quest three at this price point. Since I got mine I’ve had several friends try it and 4 were so impressed they bought one right away.
My only gripe and recommendation is that the default head strap is not comfortable. You will want to buy the upgraded elite strap for sure. Overall, 100% a super strong buy especially if you have some friends to play with!
I was very excited to try out the Meta Quest 3, my first VR/MR headset. Installation/setup was easy and I jumped into First Encounters (pre-installed). It truly shows the capabilities of the hardware. Unfortunately, I am not into video games. I was more interested in watching movies and productive use of VR/MR.
Unfortunately, watching movies does not work unless you keep staring in the same direction, and you get error messages when the room is too dark. It seems like they forgot a "fullscreen option" that turns off all the sensors and stays in front of you even when you are moving around or laying in bed.
And productivity? I never got Quest Air Link working properly. Apps for Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, WebEx, Zoom, SolidWorks, do either not exist or don't add any benefit compared to regular 2D.
In short: An amazing device with so much potential, but currently lacking software (other than video games). This review was written in November 2023.
No matter what you are doing eventually the headset has a lost tracking error which is basically a crash. You can not accomplish anything meaningful even something simple like watching a YouTube video from start to finish. Disappointing for such an expensive toy. The quality before tracking is lost is pretty wild but even so unless you are a hardcore gamer I can see the novelty of this wearing off for most fairly quickly.

Hey there RP! If your headset is displaying a "tracking lost" error, try cleaning the headset cameras with a dry microfiber cloth, and make sure to test the headset in different rooms to confirm the issue isn't related to the environment. If it still isn't tracking, don't be shy to contact our wonderful support team at meta.com/help/support/quest/, we'll be glad to give you a hand!
Meta Quest 3 is an excellent VR headset that enhances my gaming and movie-watching experience. The see-through multitasking feature makes it incredibly convenient for various uses, making it a valuable device for immersive entertainment.
I am loving the Meta Quest 3 the visual fidelity is great! It feels smooth, and hand tracking feels so much more natural. The controllers feel well built, and the pass-through looks pretty nice when compared to Quest 2.
My biggest flaw with this device is the battery life... I power it on and start downloading games while it is plugged into the wall. Yet I still manage to miraculously lose 5-10% depending how long I leave the headset on. It's almost impossible to get long play sessions, >depending the game<. Especially when taking into consideration that the battery rapidly dies in pass-through mode. Even a 20,100 MaH battery anker struggles keeping life in this headset.
I truly hope there is a update or fixes that will help the battery situation. (Especially with Asgards Wrath 2 releasing soon.) Other than that my last nit pick is the lighting has to be good or you'll end up with a shodow like strip passing your vision in pass-through while you look around. I wonder if it is just my headset causing the issue or my lighting though because I do tend to play in well light areas.
