Much better than Quest 2

The overall quality exceeds my expectations. The resolution and delay seems improved a lot compared with my old Quest 2. Even my first-time user friends were not feeling dizzy or uncomfortable . The interactions were easier. I really like the new feature that we could tap to switch between the virtual and real environments.
The only slight complaints I may have are: (1) The accessories like the strap are not compatible with those of my old Quest 2. I would prefer the accessaries to be compatible across more versions in the future, so I don't have to change everything with a new machine. (2) The wristbands on my controllers seem loose compared with my Quest 2.

This headset is a lot better than the previous model but there are some things such as the bad strap and padding that could be cheap improvements

The Quest 3 for a PCVr user

I have been a big fan of VR since I bought the quest 2 a couple years ago. I recently picked up the quest 3 and was greatly satisfied with most of the improvements made over the quest 2. I mostly use PCVr so I won't be mentioning the improved processor in the review.
Pros: -Firstly, the pass through cameras, they aren't amazing but they are very clear and enough to read reasonably sized text or do other tasks without having to take of the headset. -Another big improvement is the pancake lenses, they just work really well. I don't have to do a lot of adjusting every time I put on the headset and there is less glare and regular fog build up. -A slight improvement but a good one is the screen resolution and increased FOV. I didn't really notice a huge difference but it definitely is a good change, especially because I use PcVR most of the time and am not limited by compute power (generally). -A big improvement is how small and compact it is, It fits snuggly on my face and isn't as noticeable. -The new head strap still feels awful but is not nearly as bad as the quest 2's. It allows you to tighten it better and distributes the weight more evenly compared to the previous. But you should absolutely still buy a 3rd party headset from BoBoVr or something.
Downsides: -The battery life is not great. Using a link cable does not charge the headset and it tends to die in 2-3 hours. -The headset also charges pretty slowly. This is not great as the battery life is already not very good. -The head strap is AGAIN bad enough where you'll need to get an upgrade. While it is better, this one cuts more into my ears and is very annoying.
Improvements I would like to see: -Eye tracking- This would be a great addition to increase visual fidelity and reduce needed processing power, take notes from the PSVr 2. -OLED display- OLED displays are great for color and deep blacks, and this may help with the battery life as well. -Charging the headset via link cable- This would be a huge improvement that would solve the battery life issue for me.
Overall, the quest 3 has been a big improvement over the quest 2 and is the most reasonable PCVr headset on the market. Im looking forward to see what meta cooks up next.

Way better than I ever expected!

After trying the PSVR2 and returning it (very uncomfortable and lacked creative apps) I decided to take a chance on the Meta Quest 3. My first Quest. I bought this to help me create AR environments for use with Adobe Aero and Google's Geolocation. I have to say I LOVE this device. It was easy to set up, is comfortable for me to wear (up to about 1 hour and then the back of my head hurts). The video quality is fantastic. The pass-through looks nothing like what I see in others… mine is always grainy even in the best lit environments (indoors, outdoors, etc) but it's acceptable for my use. I have yet to play any game with it, just using it for TiltBrush and GravitySketch and some very coo, 360° VR videos. I have no regrets with this purchase and recommend to anyone who wants to upgrade their previous version, or wants to get this as their first headset. It's a solid purchase.

Originally I just wanted the flat pancakes and the lighter build because I was tired of having that heavy headset on my face. Then when I tried the mixed reality I was blown away! Everybody that came to my house after that had to check this headset out LOL!

The mixed reality is really hard to see through. Very dark and grainy. You’re not going to read your phone. Walking around in it is a little hard. I don’t understand the commercials showing watching YouTube while doing the dishes or cooking a meal. It is not that good.

Amazing experiences, but often uncomfortable

This is my first time trying VR, but I'm hooked. Some of the coolest experiences I've had in games in a long time. Currently playing "I Want You to Die" and just loving the way you can look around a virtual room by turning your head, then reach out and "touch" objects to solve puzzles. So cool! My only complaint overall is that the headset quickly becomes uncomfortable no matter how I've got it adjusted. After 30 minutes sometimes my forehead will be numb from blocked blood flow and my skin feels like it's been stretched from the weight of it. Seems like the only solution really is to buy an accessory strap setup. Seems kind of necessary anyway since these accessory straps often also include additional battery capacity, which is good considering the headset dies usually within 90-120 minutes from a full charge (even with it plugged in while playing!). After spending 500 on the headset, probably another 200 on games... This thing is getting pricey. Worth it to me so far!
