Amazing VR Experience....Albeit Uncomfortable

The Meta Quest 3 has access to all of the same apps and games as the Quest 2, but the titles made specifically for (and those that have the "Quest 3 Advanced Graphics" setting) are absolutely a cut above.
The controller tracking is better than the Quest 2, but if you can afford the Pro controllers it is worth the investment. Sometimes the Quest 3 loses the positional data which results in missed throws, dropped equipment, or falling to your death if you are holding on for dear life. Some titles still have issues with hands and arms completely disappearing while climbing (more on the individual dev team than Meta).
The base head strap is a marked improvement over the base strap on the Quest 2, but this is the most easily definable place where the Quest 3 falls short. It is still pretty darn uncomfortable. The addition of the multiple positions for the face pad and the arms for the straps does help. The strap itself is still made of a rather irritating material. The strap now rubs against the top of the ear for a lot of users.
Meta has recently rolled out the ability to stream directly to Facebook without the need for a PC, and the ability to stream to YouTube (you'll need a PC with OBS or similar software) both of which let you see the chat. When I tested the Facebook option the device would only let me stream to my personal profile where my IRL friends and family are. I even made a Facebook Gaming Page and a new Facebook Group. I can stream directly to the group (not the gaming page), and it only allows me to interact/post the stream using my real name. This isn't great at all. In order for the Facebook streaming capability to be useful, you'll need to have a separate Facebook account just for your Quest (unless Meta fixes this issue). The chat for both Facebook and YouTube can be set to display at the top, bottom, left, or right of the screen and is anchored to that point. The chat itself cannot be altered in any way. It is one size only and opaque. It also sits on top of EVERYTHING. That means if you have in up top while you need to climb.....you can't see. If an enemy comes in from the position the chat is in...you can't see them. Allowing us to anchor it to the underside of our wrist like PCVR applications do would be a MASSIVE improvement. I would settle for having a see through background while also being able to anchor it to a place of MY choosing.
Battery life is the only other drawback that I've found. That said, it actually helps to take a break (at least for me) at the 1 1/2 - 2 hour mark which is when the battery typically dies for me (running a game at the highest framerate, casting the device to OBS, and using remote desktop beta to read the Twitch chat).
TLDR;: The Quest 3 is absolutely worth the money! I highly recommend grabbing one. If the price point is a bit high for your budget, the Quest 2 is still amazing in its own right! I do recommend buying a halo-style head strap with a backup battery. BOBOVR has a really great one! It takes awhile for them to be in stock/get delivered however. I picked up the Kiwi brand spare battery from Amazon which works great, but I did need to buy a separate USB-C to USB-C cable as the USB-A port did not provide enough power to keep the Quest 3 topped off. Using the Kiwi backup battery I am currently able to play for 3 hours straight without even touching the primary battery on the Quest 3!

Good, could be better

Overall rating: main thing I would like to be improved is the FOV. it's good but could be better. This is the main thing I would love to see improved.
Comfort: it's getting better. The main thing I would like is something to take some of the pressure off of my face and devert it to my forehead or the top of my head. A counter weight on the back of my head would help as well.

😻Definitely an upgrade from the Index and Quest 2

Amazing upgrade from the Quest 2 and even the Index for me. Only thing lacking is the ability to read Twitch chat while playing/streaming native games, but hopefully that'll change soon as YouTube chat support (in beta) recently came out and works (more is needed to have options like LIV streamerkit though).

It's a game changer, the passthrough features alone are worth the price of admission. I love mixed reality, I love full immersion vr, I love watching 3d movies and YouTube videos, I love the social aspect. It's comfortable to wear for hours. This is a wonderful product.

Not a very reasonable upgrade... Yet

The potential is there. The hardware is great aside from the cloth headstrap which is still honestly good, but has room for improvement. The software is still not much of an improvement over the Quest 2. Multitasking with 2D apps needs an overhaul if mixed reality is really going to take off. Right now your 3 windows are all bound to the task bar, and cannot be moved separately. They cannot be resized if you're using the smaller window size for direct touch. It would also be nice if the windows also provided dynamic lighting with an option to dim the environment. A few popup menus including sharing from the camera app make your apps and task bar disappear. There are almost no transitions for anything. A few pop-ups suddenly become scrollable when they could totally expand vertically. Overall the 2D app experience feels like they just wanted a floating resizeable Android tablet in a 3D space. They really dont take advantage of the fact that apps are no longer bound to the edges of the screen. The VR experiences are definitely a huge improvement over the Quest 2 on every front aside from WiFi 5 connection speeds which are critical for wireless PC VR streaming. Where my Quest 2 was getting up to 600Mbps my Q3 is getting maybe 200 if I'm lucky. Streaming VR from my PC is a complete downgrade on that front.

Oculous quest 3

Link cable works horribly with the quest and there's no real stable pc setup that allows you to keep a charge on the headset while connectedto the computer. I'm very disappointed and I wish I got the quest pro instead.

Impressive Headset with Some Puzzling Choices
on November 22, 2023

The overall performance of this headset is commendable, but a few perplexing design choices leave me scratching my head.
Firstly, the decision to change the face cushion from the Quest 2, which was uncomfortable against the skin, is confounding. It raises questions about the user experience and why the unit is not sold with a more comfortable face cushion and head strap by default. Comfort is paramount, and if users find the device uncomfortable, they may be discouraged from using it. Many users might not even be aware that they have the option to purchase more comfortable accessories separately.
The discomfort doesn't end there – the head strap leaves something to be desired. Providing a comfortable head strap with the unit would enhance the out-of-the-box experience for users. This attention to comfort is crucial, as users are more likely to abandon a device they find uncomfortable.
Another head-scratcher is the absence of 3D content in promotional videos for games and apps. Given the immersive capabilities of the VR device, it seems counterintuitive to showcase content in 2D. Including 3D videos would undoubtedly serve as a powerful selling tool, allowing users to better experience and understand the immersive nature of the games and apps on offer.
Furthermore, the graphics for the Quest 3 seem to be a missed opportunity. Despite the improved optics, the graphics could be more notable out of the box. It begs the question of why Meta hasn't seized the opportunity to showcase the full potential of the improved visual experience. While users have found workarounds like Side Quest to enhance graphics, it would be more advantageous for Meta to optimize the device's graphics out of the box, aligning with the enhanced optics for a seamless user experience.
While Meta offers a remarkable product, there seems to be room for improvement in maximizing its selling potential. Addressing comfort concerns, incorporating 3D content in promotional material, and optimizing graphics for the Quest 3 would undoubtedly contribute to a more compelling and user-friendly VR experience.
