I love the quest 2 it was great a little heavy but you get used to it a little motion sickness but you get used to it. Now quest 3 awesome graphics better quality and smaller but it hurts to play lots of pressure on the nose I get really bad headache playing the quest 3 and just uncomfortable maybe getting a elite strap might fix it but for stock quest 3 hurts to play but love the graphics love the fps all the software is top tier controller are better but I got used to the rings so I’m missing them a little but quest 3 is good but just bad on comfort.

Video from most sources have motion judder and is not easily fixed. The augmented reality camera was not good in any type of well lit area. Very disappointing. I returned my Meta Quest 3.

Big improvement from Quest 1

I was the early adopter and used my Quest 1 mostly for best saber and the boxing app TTOTF since May 2019. After I was using it several hours a week for several years, it had broken controller rings and had troubles with booting up, so I was really looking forward to skipping one generation and getting Quest 3. I was not disappointed. The pancake lens design allowed for much more compact footprint, full color pass-through cameras is a huge improvement for mixed reality, and the new processor allowed for better picture quality. Higher resolution and refresh rate is nice too. Not having the rings on the controller is a bonus and did not seem to affect the tracking. The setup was fast and easy. A couple of desired improvement areas are the head straps, they are not comfortable and adjusting them is not easy. Also the fitting seal to my face is not easy to clean and makes the hard top ridge headset press on my forehead. I also noticed the controllers do not provide as much feedback in TTOTF as my old Quest 1 controllers, but it may have something to do with the game update itself. Lastly, bringing the controllers close to face in TTOTF creates weird scene distortion, almost vertigo-like. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase and recommend this set to anyone looking to check out VR/MR.

The Quest 3 is lighter, setup was simple, passthrough is clear, resolution is sharp. I bought one for me and my wife and we use them almost everyday and love them.

Pro: Best headset so far from your line up. Use the Riff, RiffS, Quest Pro. Great pass through as you well know and the audio is much improved. Con: The strap is terrible. So much work on the tech in the HMD, but skipped to strap. You ought to look into the straps they use for cpap machines. I have gone through 4 straps for my Quest 2. And still it is not that great. The Riff on the other hand was super nice. At least in confort.

Not the Next BIG thing

So I've owned the Quest 1 and Quest 2 since Launch Day for both headsets and each time those headsets came out they were revolutionary. The Quest 2 felt like an actual upgrade to the Quest 1 and felt like an actual justified purchase. The Quest 3 however, is very underwhelming and almost false advertisement. If you already own a Quest 2 I would highly recommend holding off on upgrading for awhile. The Quest 3 has no new games for the system. There were no Launch Titles. Not many developers have made Quest 3 enhanced versions of the product yet so all the game you play you are just playing the Quest 2 version of them. Which is disappointing and odd. The headset IS smaller than Quest 2 BUT not really... it just appears smaller. The battery life has not improved. In fact it's worse if you decide to use the headset as intended. Sure you can now have the option to change between performance and battery consumption but.... then you are just playing on a Quest 2. The stock strap is terrible. I hate harping on it Because everyone has but it puts pressure on the back of your head that causes headaches and rubs on your ears if you don't have it on correctly. The headset should not have ever came with the elastic band strap imo. Especially for the price Meta is selling the headset at. The Pass-through..... is NOT what was advertised. See when you watch videos of the new color pass through it looks amazing, text is super clear, and it actually looks like MR. Very cool right? Well that's because it's a recording. What you actually SEE is MUCH MUCH different. It's not bad per say, it's definitely better than any other color Pass-through on the market but even in "perfect lighting conditions" it's severely underwhelming and grainy. Colors are not true to real life and warping is still present. The biggest issue is you were told you could read text on your phone or do tasks on your computer all while having the headset on and you CAN... but you CANT... in order to read your phone it has to be a specific distance from your headset, you have to turn your brightness almost all the way down on the phone and then still be in great lighting conditions to read it clearly. On a PC, it's essentially the same but the way they get around this is by giving you a app that will mirror your desktop PC screen. You can then overlay the screen on your monitor and it works pretty well but again not what was advertised. I'm not sure who this headset is for. It's almost as if it was rushed and unfinished. No new games, not really any new to Quest 3 features, the Pass-through is half baked, and there is battery issues with the solution being just to run the Quest 3 in Quest 2 mode. I will say the controllers track just as good as ever and the battery life on them is about the same as Quest 2. The sound seems just as good as Quest 2 if not a tiny bit better and the lenses have greatly improved. I will say that the best part of the headset is the lenses. Extremely easy to dial in a clear image now thanks to bringing back the stepless IPD slider adjustment wheel and the pancake lenses are much better than the fresnel lenses. God rays are gone, halo rings are gone and it's still really hard to look for the screen door effect. So good job on that. Hand tracking was supposed to be improved but it doesn't seem to be any better than the current version of Quest 2s hand tracking. All in all I'm a little confused and disappointed in this headset. I'll never go back to Quest 2 or 1 but I'm just kind of stuck here waiting till after the new year hoping things will get better. I'm sure updates are coming and will make small improvements but even still until Meta shuts down compatibility for Quest 2 I'd say don't waste your money unfortunately.

Tech is definitely top notch. I get some vertigo where the screen does this sideways thing before correcting itself I call it vertigo. But other then lack of games mixed reality and the comfortable fit makes it way better then the q2

While I really appreciate the new headset and some of the choices that were made, it is all undermined with the continued use of an LCD over an OLED. I'm so very very disappointed and baffled that such a bad decision was made. With the introduction of augmented reality, having actual real blacks would have went a long way. On top of that so many of my favorite games are all made distractingly ugly by the lack of real blacks (Half Life Alyx, Saint And Sinners, Lies beneath, etc...) and everything feels like it has a white haze over it. I can't help stop but think while I'm playing what could have been and am so mad I have to wait for yet another generation for what should have been part of this one.
