Awful out of box experience and small improvements

I’ve been using quest 2 for years so i was eager to upgrade. But then when i got it, i was immediately annoyed by a clunky setup experience… you can see how Apple is different and Meta is sloppy. After 30mins i was tested the new quest 3 and it had nothing significantly better than 2. So i returned it

I started my VR journey with the original HTC vive... and now we are here?!? I almost can't believe this. The quest 3 is a massive leap from the quest 2. Not only do I do house chores while watching my favorite anime in mixed reality, but I can use my quest 3 for for seamless PCVR through a Wi-Fi 6E router. (Seriously thank you for making Wi-Fi 6e a thing on this headset.) The pancake lenses look incredible, lense adjustment is leagues better than the old slot adjustment, smaller size of the headset makes the weight distribution much better, and full color passthrough cameras make mixed reality actually useable for the first time in an affordable headset. At this point in time if anybody asks me about what headset they should get, My immediate reply would be a quest 3. There are so many uses for it with or without a PC that it's kind of a no-brainer at this point. I do have one gripe though, COMFORT. I would highly suggest getting a silicone face gasket or else you will basically have a salty sponge pressed against your forehead after a few hours of gameplay. The head strap that initially ships with the headset is pretty garbage as well and causes a lot of the headset weight to sit on the top of your nose or cheekbones. Bobo VR has made an incredible headsrap that fixes this issue and makes the experience far more comfortable. Take notes from them meta! You guys have created a wonderful headset! If you guys can get the comfort aspect down, you will dominate the VR market for sure.

This is my first VR and what a experience. However, the wow factor also makes me want more of
1. lightweight and comfort
2. better organized store
3. even better passthrough and resolution
Don't get me wrong. I am already addicted. That is why I want more....

I have had every single iteration of the Quest and the Rift prior. Meta never ceases to amaze me with how much technology goes into such a device and their focus on ensuring that users have the best experience is reflected in their software. Truly, it's astounding.
The Meta Quest 3 is by far the best VR headset on the market. Period. You'll read from my reviewers about the improved optics, processor, etc. but really, bringing in mixed reality with a depth sensor is just something you have to experience to appreciate. When games are interacting with your home, it's just makes for such a fun experience. Literally every day I'm checking the store to see if there is any new mixed reality content and games.
TLDR
For those that have a Quest 2, yeah, it's 100% worth the upgrade if you have the money. If this is your first VR device, yeah, it's 100% worth the purchase.
*For transparency, I do not work for Meta, I do not have any friends or family at Meta. I don't even own the stock. Simply put they're the ones that have been driving VR since its inception and they're doing a great job at it.

Best VR MR headset in the market

I bought the Microsoft Hololens when it first came out in 2015 and this is as close as that but with way more field of view and a fraction of the cost. I also bought the Hololens 2 when it came out to test the different and progress in tech and didn’t see much advanced from a consumer perception. It had more scanning capabilities among other few things in performance but the Quest 3 is super fast, scans super quick and well. The only thing I would say negative is that the reconstruction of the multiple cameras is sometimes weird looking.

Magical experience

This is my first time with VR since using a buddies years ago. Honestly, it was magical. Seeing the window pop up in AR mode immediately made me think "Well, this is how we're going to re-create magic in our world". It's really wild. I hope they open up the developer experience so we can get really high quality apps - it still feels like its missing *the thing* that will bring people on.

Still a few simple things lacking

Overall, the graphics in particular of the new headset are stunning. I am certainly enjoying that. I found the native audio capabilities of the headset lacking however. The quality is in my opinion, “thin and reedy”. I didn’t think that it was even as good as the Quest 2 headset. It doesn’t get me pumped up for my exercise programs, which is my primary use of the headset. Another comment is that due to the change in graphics resolution / field of view, users that matriculate from the Quest 2 will find that the “feel” of all their favorite games, in my case Beat Saber and Fit XR, just feel off. It’s like you are out of alignment. I don’t know if there are adjustments that need to be made, or a compromise needs to be maintained to make games work with the Quest 2. Regardless, for the moment, even after several weeks of use, I am not enjoying the game play as much on some of my favorites. A lot of unanticipated target misses. Has this new headset been a worthwhile investment for me? I am not certain yet.
