Clear view, but at what cost

The headset is very clear! But the microphone is bad, the faceplate is uncomfortable, the battery life is almost impressively short, and the PC application has been been the same for 3 years.
I’ve been using a Rift S since the beginning of 2020 and am really only interested in PC vr. I bought a Quest 3 as soon as they were available since my Rift was falling apart at this point. At first I was waiting for my link cable to arrive so I used airlink. I uninstalled my Rift application thinking there’d be a specific one for Quest, only to find that it uses the same application I’ve been using since I started vr. It’s very jarring going from the clean simple Quest 3 UI when I start my headset to the application’s UI that is all black and old feeling. It also locks me out of the Quest 3 UI after starting up the link.
The microphone is just bad. I have to wear a headset over my vr headset to hear and speak clearly to friends, and it is very uncomfortable.
The faceplate is difficult to get into a comfortable position. One time I was unable to do so(wearing glasses, with vr headset, with headset) and it gave me a massive headache.
The battery life I believe is 2.5 hours, which is barely anything at all. I was playing games with friends and had to quit partway through because I didn’t have any battery left. With my cable I can charge so it lasts I think twice as long though it still drains. As far as I know you can’t keep perpetually charging it like the Quest 2.
Very good headset if you can live with those things.

It only last 2 hours and then it takes 2 hours and a half to charge full and then when you plug in the vr link cable to a pc vr too powerful and slowly losing battery life even if it’s plugged And sometimes the meta quest 3 is buggy like I will set the floor level and the height Will go so high or so low you can’t play anything because it to high and to fix I have to restart the meta quest 3

Battery life sucks

The mixed reality is cool but there are not enough games worth playing. Visually much better than the quest 2 but battery life is extremely poor. I get just under an hour and a half playing Population 1 which is what I play most.

Meta Quest 3 first impressions

I was most impressed with how easily my account and all my games ported over to the new system. I have been able to play all my old games from the original Oculus Quest I got many years ago and now they run extra smooth and with obviously improved play dynamics. I love using the gesture controls on the new system. I look forward to more games in the future that work with gesture controls instead of the controllers. My only irritation comes when I'm trying to engage with passive (video) media. The gesture controls engage unnecessarily unless I sit on my own hands or put my hands under a blanket and that is a little annoying. I understand that the gesture controls want to be available at all times, but I wish I could turn them off at times when I'm watching Netflix, for example, and I don't want the gesture graphic interface to interrupt my watching experience.

I see a huge difference between the previous version and this version. Much better quality than the Meta Quest 2. There are more features for the Quest 3 than the Quest 2.

Quest 3 is 100% worth it. I use it daily in fitness, gaming, social, and spacial computing. The color pass-through blows my mind. My apps all look moor crisp. The controllers are light and intuitive.
The only complaint I have is that Meta is still sending out a headset with an uncomfortable strap. Cmon meta! We want new users to have the best intro to the world of VR, and being comfortable is so important! Just partner with BOBOVR and get people a decent strap right out of the box. As soon as I got my BOBOVR M3 Plus strap, the Quest 3 became the perfect device. Sorry, the elite strap stick doesn't cut it, because I don't like vice grips on my face.

Controller tracking is worse than quest 2
on November 3, 2023

The screen is much better, the AR cameras are good, which are things that I would expect from a new device, but the tracking of the controllers is noticeably worse than the quest 2. If this is an effect of ditching the halo rings on the controller, that was a mistake. Moving the controllers with any sort of speed, which is the majority of software, it doesn't track well at all. Examples: ragnarock, a drumming game is unplayable at higher difficulties because the controllers don't keep up to speed so your timing is off, fitness game where certain targets require higher "force" (read speed) than others don't register the difference in motion speed as well as the old controllers. quick moves track as slow. Golf+ is also very evident that it doesn't track as well. Lots of clubs hitting the ground behind the ball and such. The controllers are also just too small to be comfortable as well. I don't regret my "upgrade" but I'm not telling everyone around me to go out and buy it either.
