I followed the Oculus company for a long time before the launch of the original Quest, had the chance to test some early devices as the DK1 and even own a second hand DK2. It just blew my mind, and I knew if I had the change, I would focus on VR for my gaming experience. I pre-ordered the Quest2 and enjoyed every minute with it, it opened an amazing new door for me as an old PC Gamer who have tested and owned a fair bit of the PC gaming industry products such as different simracing wheels and pedals, dozens of 3D cards since the original 3Dfx Vodoo, and many other components. VR was just different and it hit me hard. As good as the Quest2 is, and as groundbreaking when it launched, it had several drawbacks which I would have loved to see, and they are all present in the Quest 3!. The mixed reality is mesmerizing, although some games that support it still show some issues, I know that will improve. The pancake style lenses are really a great improvement over the Quest2 Fresnel style and it is really noticeable with bright things and dark backgrounds. Image quality is greatly improved and it has helped me see more details in games, and very helpful in simracing to cleary see the gauges.
The only drawback I have experienced is that I've been getting a burning sensation on the side of my face next to my eyes, not sure yet if it's a reaction to the foam, or something more related to the view itself, as I have a quite wide IPD, close to 71mm, which I can set up closer now with the Quest3 but was maxed to 68mm with the Quest2. I can't comment much on hand tracking as I tried it for a couple minutes and disabled it.
Anyways I absolutely LOVE the Quest 3, just hope there is more mixed reality development in the future and some new style of games are developed as there are many similar games in the market.

So much goofupgrade but still it gives me headache

I have tried Quest 2 and 3 for a week when they came up. I enjoyed using them both.
Quest 3 us upgraded you can feel it ui menu and displays are more responsive and sharp.
There is now more context to consume in VR world also.
Meta did a really good job shipping and return process.
What I could not overcome with both was my headache. After 10 minutes of use, my head would spin and need to rest more than an hour to get to my normal.
Maybe it was just me, some people like me having sensitive eye sights or sensitive to lights or to the artifical perception alignments.
Looking forward to see where this tech goes.
Do I recommend? Yes definetely.

I tried my friends quest 2 and I was instantly on board for the quest 3. Very easy setup and intuitive especially for those new to vr. The only major issues I had with the headset is comfort and battery life. I expected a little better battery life especially when compared to the quest 2. The headstrap that comes with the headset also gets a little fatiguing after a while as well. The good thing is, the headstrap can be upgraded (for an extra charge of course). My gripes witht the headset were mostly because I considered the $200 price jump from the quest 2 with no improvements to those categories. However, it is still a really great value when compared to other mainstream headsets in the market! Overall, a 4/5, would definitely recommend!

the facial interface is extremely uncomfortable and harmed further by the very bad head strap. It’s super itchy and in longer usage feels like it’s going to leave a rash. and the lenses aren’t quite edge to edge clarity though still better than the 2

Happy with the new Quest 3

I am a current owner of a quest 2. I recently purchased the quest 3. I have enjoyed playing almost all of my games and apps like never before due the clarity of visual details and tracking of the controllers. Everything is much better now. I especially like playing mixed reality games because of moving around in my home environment seeing both the game and surroundings at the same time.

Very disappointed that the software does not allow spatial anchoring or many augmented reality options until next year. Don’t sell the hardware if the software isn’t ready.
