Superior to previous Quest

I have purchased a Quest 1, a Quest 2, and now a Quest 3 and this is by far the most comfortable of all. The previous Quedts were so uncomfortable I could only wear them for about 15 minutes before I could not stand it anymore. Quest 3 with Pro Headstrap with Battery will happily sit on my head and face for at least 2 hours with no discomfort . The graphics are much sharper and the MR is a pleasant surprise. I see a lot of potential with the use of MR. Using Airlink from my PC is almost flawless so I can still play all my PCVR favorites like Asgards Wrath, Lone Echo 1 & 2, Alyx, No Mans Sky, etc. The audio is also much improved and so far I have not needed to use my earbuds. I love this thing.

Better in some ways worse in others

Q3 is clearly faster than Q2 and has better resolution and lenses but battery life is shorter and tracking of the controllers is noticably worse. This is a big problem for competitive Beat Saber players. Fast movements are "fudged" by the headset and often inaccurate. I think the rings on the controllers are needed for the headset to track them accurately throughout the full range of motion. Hope they can resolve this or offer replacements.

Setup process was bad. It made me sick reading the phone text through the decent passthrough. You guys have to drop this requirement or make initial profile setup start on mobile only and then be "inside the headset" only. My nausea extended to the first games.
After the first day I have not been sick again so it's not the headset, but your profile/"getting started" that is poorly concieved.
Also, give devs the ability to use marker detection and/or video feed access to we can implement our own OpenCV image processing. You're stifling AR/MR innovation otherwise.

I love the fact that the unit is not as heavy as the q2 but hard to get used to the smaller controller. Also the fact that no games are out or have been updated for the q3 as of yet is a huge let down.

Early issues

I was extremely excited to order the Quest 3 and did so within hours of the release. Upon receiving and setting up my device i was quite impressed with the passthrough features and I will say right away that the HAND tracking is nice. As I've seen posted in other reviews, the stock strap is awful but you're going to need to replace that with an aftermarket strap / battery anyway as the battery life is short, doubly so if you leave your headset in passthrough mode. It's a little better if you create a boundary as in Quest 2.
My biggest issue by far is controller tracking. I use Supernatural VR more than anything else and the flow workouts involve large arm movements in conjunction with squats and lunges. Frequently this suspends my workout with a "controller tracking lost," message and I have to restart.
Honestly, I've considered returning the device and going back to my Quest 2 but in my experience, Meta is good about sending updates and supporting their product. I only hope that the solution to the tracking issues can be addressed in software updates and does not doom the product itself.

My gawd the visuals!

I tried not to get my hopes up about the hype over the new pancake lenses and proosed higher resolution as I had been sorely burned by the HTC Vive Pro just months previous. But wow! The improvements in this new model are indeed worth every penny! I primarily play wireless pc vr, which has been drastically improved, but the new mixed reality stuff in the standalone apps has really caught my attention as well! It'll be interesting to see how far they take this stuff.

I really love the new quest, it's much clearer and lighter. The pass through and hands free is much more useable now! My only complaint is the headstrap...for such a nice piece of gear you guys could do a better job with the strap!
