Glad I read the reviews for a change

Thanks to all you reviewers who obviously bought this hub for the same reason I was ABOUT to buy one ... namely to keep my Macbook charging while simultaneously using USB-A and USB-C peripherals like storage or Ethernet.
To Belkin, I admit the your video and description *is* accurate, but you really aught to spell out that this hub will NOT answer the need that so many of us apparently have! To all you posters; sorry you wasted your money on this device but thank you for your posts so others like me don't follow in your footsteps.

When I plug the multiport, my wi-fi close. I tried a couple of time in the two port available on my Macbook pro and the multiport always shutdown my wifi. I want Belkin to refund me.

Hi, Gtopp,

Your experience caught our attention. As for USB-C Mini Hub, it is used for connecting all your peripherals to your new USB-C device and it shouldn't cause your Wi-Fi to shut down. Please email us your contact details and the link to this review at BelkinCares@belkin.com and we'll have our Second Level Support Team look closely into your issue for further isolation.

Product description needs to clearly state problem

I wish I'd read these reviews before buying this. Since the MacBook only has one port, any USB Hub that doesn't pass the charge through from the charger to the MacBook is more or less useless. Otherwise I'm sure this hub is great, as most Belkin gear is, but for any MacBook owner it's a complete waste of money.

Hi,

We understand your sentiments that the USB-C 4-Port Mini Hub didn't meet your expectations. As for the product's overview, it is compatible with your MacBook and other USB-C compatible laptops. It has two (2) USB-C ports allows connecting new devices, while two USB-A ports for easy connection to existing devices, such as a hard drive, mouse, keyboard or printer.

If you have questions or clarifications, reach out to us at BelkinCares@belkin.como, anytime.

Good 3.1 Hub, needs option for Power Adapter

The hub does what the description states... allows you to use multiple USB A type and C type devices with an existing USB C type port. It does not have passthorugh charging, and will therefore not charge your latptop / macbook (nor does it state anywhere in the product description that it will). Based on the reviews I am seeing, people did not fully read the product description...
As a simple USB hub allowing for USB 3.0 transfer speeds it works great. My portable Type C drives function as they should with this hub, and it can charge my Type C enabled smartphone.
The only negative, is that it should come with a power adapter to allow for more current use across the USB ports, to support faster charging and power of larger / more power hunger USB devices such as full size 3.5in External Hard Drives.

Doesn't charge the macbook
on August 10, 2016
Posted by: Melanie
I bought this based on the description that it would charge the macbook thinking I could also have a USB key or some other USB A device plugged in. The USB A ports work fine, but the USB C port doesn't charge my macbook, even when it is the only thing plugged in. Wish I had opted for a better adaptor and not thrown out my money on this one.
Response from belkin.comBy BelkinCustomer Support August 12, 2016
Hi Melanie,

The Belkin USB-C 4-Port Mini Hub doesn’t support pass-through charging. You can still charge peripherals with 900mAh (shared). Should you need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to email us at BelkinCares@belkin.com with your contact details and the link to this review.

Doesn't charge computer/see other usb-c items
on August 5, 2016
Posted by: Asdf77
This is being used on a Macbook. I bought this thinking I could keep my power cord connected thru one USB-C and use the other USB-C to add an external item. The regular USB's work fine but the USB-C ports DO NOT work. Neither USB-C port will give power to my computer, neither usb-c port will recognize my usb-c SD card reader, and only one will give power to (but not allow me to access) my external hard drive. The card reader and external drive have no issues when connected directly to the usb-c drive on the computer. DO NOT WASTE your $$$$.
Response from belkin.comBy Belkin Customer SupportAugust 8, 2016

Hi,

This product features a shared charging capacity at 900mAh and it is possible that the Macbook needs more than the hub can handle. As for the computer not recognizing the SD card and external drive, we'd like to help you figure out what has caused it. May we know the make and model of each peripheral? We'd be happy to receive your response via email at BelkinCares@belkin.com and indicate your phone number and the subject/link to this post.

I bought this for a 12" MacBook, BUT when i connect the USBc port that comes from the original Apple charging block, nothing happens... The computer does recognize the iPhone and also the telephone is being charged, however the computer does not charges... it´s worthless..... don´t buy it...
The worst? I already throw to the trash the containing packaging....
Response from belkin.comBy BelkinCustomer Support July 26, 2016
Hi Memo,

We’d like to get a clear picture of how your devices are connected. If you’re trying to charge your phone while it’s connected to the hub, make sure that it doesn’t exceed its charging capacity (900mAh shared). Send us the details at BelkinCares@belkin.com with your contact info, location, review title, and the link to this post.
