[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this last week. In addition to this model, I also have the 12000 btu unit which is whisper quiet. But this one makes a constant mid-pitch noise when the AC is running. It is not the fan making the noise because when running in fan only it is quiet. I have no idea why this is happening, but it is annoying because I put this unit in my bedroom. It does cool well, however.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The LG inverter AC I bought is the best ac I have ever owned.
Ultra quiet I can watch my movies right next to my AC and still hear the movie without raising the volume loud. I live in a 3 room apartment open concept in dining & living room & the 8k btu cools this entire space with the AC on energy saver medium fan speed. It cooled perfect on the 90 degrees heat wave too! I live on the upper floor!
This AC is highly recommend by me as I have nerve damage in 1 ear so certain tones bother me especially AC noise.
This LG inverter is so quiet I have to make sure it is still running.
Not only that it has self cleaning interior and dry mode for dampness. I am a senior & maintenance is important to me.
I just love love this unit. Will buy this LG type ac again and again in the future. Thank you LG!!

I purchased 2 air conditioners and returned both prior to purchasing this one. The first one cooled so what but the noise was intolerable at night. Vendor said it was my window? Second air conditioner, barely cooled, leaked water all over. Had this not happened I wouldn’t have purchased the LG air conditioner. Funny that we didn’t Purchase LG AC first?? Honestly this is one of the best AC’s I’ve purchased in the last ten years. Unit so quiet that at times I didn’t realize it was on. Cools very well and quickly even during the recent extreme heat. I highly recommend. I will purchase a lager unit (12,000 btu or greater), next season for our main living area.Features are excellent; dry mode and auto clean as well as temperature & fan controls. Very good unit.

It's very quiet the most you'll hear is the humming of the fan but it's a nice hum. The unit isn't crazy wide but it is very long and heavy. My room is like a ice box when it's on and that's the way I like it. It also holds up well on Humid days.
