Honestly, as with any handheld sharpener, this takes far too much metal off of the blade and does not do the job of a proper sharpening stone. You could easily wear your knives down to the nub, eventually, and they will not be nearly as sharp as they would if you learn to use a stone or take advantage of the professional sharpening service.
I love Zwilling knives, they are amazing, I am not in love with this sharpener. It's adequate if one does not wish to avail themselves of other options, but it, like any handheld sharpener, will shorten the lifespan of your knives.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
