A honing steel will help you maintain the edge of your knife by realigning the blade. You should do this whenever the knife doesn't feel as sharp as you'd like it to be. However, eventually you won't be able to get your knives as sharp with the honing steel. The diamond steel takes honing to the next level because it's a much harder, rougher surface. Instead of just realigning the blade, you are actually taking metal off and making it much sharper. This 12" steel is a perfect length, handling sharpening any knife up to 10".

This 12" diamond coated sharpening steel is my favorite to sell of all steel There is nothing better to express how great this diamond-coated steel. This steel quickly to produce a very sharp edge on the knife with very few strokes only. The flat surface provides more contact to sharpen knife edge. This diamond-coated steel is better than any portable knife sharpener and honed its edge.

Recently introduced to honing by a long time friend who is a professional chef. I was always complaining about my knives dulling and I learned that honing is the key to edge retention. The honing realigns the edge so that it no longer rolls over on itself which causes the dulling. The Diamond Sharpening Steel not only realigns the edge, but because of the Diamond Steel, some sharpening also occurs. This sharpening steel makes a huge difference, and I use it every time I work in the kitchen.

This honing steel is perfect for maintaining blade edge. It is differs from other honing steels because it also helps sharpen as you hone because of the diamond particles infused in the steel. Nice 12" length, easily accommodates longer knife blades, and can be used for both my German and Japanese knives.

If you dont mind using a ceramic steel, this one is good. Ceramic makes for a wonderful knife sharpening material but it is fragile and at risk for breakage.

Great way to maintain your knives! The handle is comfortable and sturdy to hold. The 12” length is nice if you have a 10 inch knives.
