Practice makes perfect. Once you master the technique, you will use this steel everytime you pick up your knives. this will prolong the life of your blades and keep them sharper for a longer period of time. The 12" gives you enough room for the 10" blade. This is an excellent quality steel.

Optimal Oval Steel

Making regular use of a honing steel will reduce the frequency with which you have to sharpen your knives. This 12 inch oval steel is optimal to achieve the best results, as it provides more surface contact with the edge so it requires fewer strokes. Length also permits honing of longer knife blades.

Great oval steel for your honing purposes. Better than most round steels and best for use in between using knives on a daily basis and the 1-2x/yr. sharpening process. This one has a great grip on it, so no slippage while using! Feels sturdy and you can hang on the wall for better access.

Does the job well. My old steel needed replacing & this one has honed the edge on my knives again. It is sturdy and easy to use, I like the oval design. It just barely fits in my Zwilling knife block though. I must insert it at an angle to the square slot & a little over an inch of the steel stays exposed, but otherwise I am happy with my purchase.

The steel will keep your knives in shape. It is made from a highly carbonized and hard chrome-plated steel ensure a good sharpening result. I like the grip of the handle, won't slip in your hands.

A great steel to use for honing

Great and easy way to keep your knives sharp longer. With the honing steel, you can keep the edge on your knives for much longer, and you won’t have to worry about sharpening your knives as much. Perfect for any German stainless steel knife and some Japanese, depending on their steel hardness. Nice handle on the steel as well, provides easy and secure comfortability as you grip the steel to hone your knives safely.
