I'm an admin for a non-profit. I've ordered about a dozen of these and none have held up to use for more than a month or so. Even with half the capacity of paper the rings don't close tightly and sometimes become unaligned. This causes a few pages in the middle of a stack to become loose but only on a hole or two.....so they stick out from the edge when you move the book and end up getting torn out all together. For the price I paid I expected much better quality. Very disappointing.
I bought this to put all of our new house documents in. It works great. Everything fits perfectly and it keeps upright on the shelf without falling over. It can stand alone without any propping up either. The clear tab on the side is wonderful. I wrote the home address to see exactly what the binder holds and there is plenty of room left over in the file for more important documents. The material is great and easy to clean off with a single damp cloth. I will be purchasing more of these binders for all of my larger document files!!
The rings do not stay tightly closed. The result is that papers tend to come out. Something has to be done to the design to keep the rings closed tightly when they are supposed to be closed.
This binder is far better than others I have purchased. Even with heavy use it holds up rings do not pop open or fail to close completely. The front cover opens flat for easy loading and additions; wipes clean easily and is easy to label (front and spine). I purchased four of these in different colors and use them to differentiate focus topics. Because the binder is slightly oversized it is easy to read binder tabs that are inserted as well as locate pocket files in each section. I would purchase these again for a similar reference purpose.
When I first picked this up the price shocked me. I was looking for a tough well built binder for a special course I am in. I looked around for other binders in the same size within the Staples assortment. None were made anywhere near as well. The metal rings open and close very smoothly with no hassles. This binder is definitely a Quality product and I would buy it again if the need arises.
The Better binders are Staple's answer to an age old problem binder hinges and covers that fall apart. The durable vinyl covers are solid color through and through no cardboard filler and no seams to let go. This alone makes the Better binder a good choice for heavy usage. The hinges take the "better" concept a step beyond--they are a flexible rubber-like material that would have to be purposefully torn or cut. It is heat bonded (I would guess) with the cover and spine and I have yet to see one come loose much less apart. The spine has an insert window for a lable (included but you can make more out of index card stock) and the cover has a see through window for a cover page. Inside the round rings are gone replaced with flat sided "D" rings and the cover folds all the way open to make access even easier. They cost more but then you will not likely have to replace them either...
I use these for the reseach I am doing in my MA course work. They are easy to use due to the flexible spine and rubberized spine and edges. The structure makes them durable yet easy to work with. The Easy-insert spine label and front document window makes it easy for cataloging and quick referenceing. I really like that the rings open easily with the touch of a finger because I do not have to stop and put the pages down I am going to insert jsut to open the rings. The use of D rings rather than O rings make it easier to open and close the binder when you have more than 300 sheets inside. The Interior pockets for organization and storage areas are great for items used frequently making them easy to grab in a hurry.
This binder is a pretty pink color. However the reinforced rubberized spine makes it very difficult to carry. It has a tendency to move back and forth. I wished I had not torn off the cover because I would definitely return it. I have bought smaller sized ones of this type of binder and they worked fine. 3" ones are just too difficult to carry to make worthwhile.
