User friendly online purchase for acid-free sheet protectors that were also cost friendly. And a very easy pick-up. I just wish their location was closer to me. Will buy again from Staples.

Good for My Purpose

I'm a late 50's Baby Boomer in the process of de-cluttering. I decided to start with pictures: Removing them from heavy albums and storing them in acid free boxes and light weight binders. My research indicated that any plastics used should be PVC free and that made of polypropylene was a good choice. To sort the pictures and store them by topic I cut the sheets down to essentially make envelopes to fit 4*6 5*7 or whatever and then used a Food Saver to create an edge for a shorter length since I have a lot more categories than the 6 dividers that come with the storage boxes. Most of the time I could cut the sheets in half and create two envelopes. (I could have also just wrapped the extra thickness around the back of the grouping.) These were sturdy enough that they didn't tear and yet hold quite a few pictures per "envelope". I'm also using them in light weight binders for bigger pictures and paper memorabilia. In transferring them from their previous albums I can see why the old style plastic/vinyl is no longer recommended. The weight and sturdiness is perfect for this project (even heavier items like diplomas in cases didn't tear them) and the price was good for the amount I needed to store. My only problem is that they're pretty slippery when grouped next together in the box but since they're not intended for this purpose I can't really consider that a downside of the product and I just have to be careful when taking them out. I have also been using these for years to store documentation in my tax binders and they've held up well. I think the price for the 100 pack makes it a good value.
