Would ne recommend this product at this point. Tried 2 different brand new units. Will not run on a switch, which is a long industry standard?? Says it has to be connected to a router?? Many many error states occurred even running non network sharing on a PC (USB). Appears to be VERY sensitive to labels. Using 30374 Appt Card DYMO labels. 40+ years IT tech. Model 450 was great.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello.
Thank you for contacting us and sharing your feedback.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.
To ensure a seamless network connection and optimal performance, we highly recommend connecting the DYMO LabelWriter 550 Turbo directly to the router. This setup helps maintain a stable interaction between the printer and your network.
Also, note that printer sharing via USB requires the root computer to be turned on and available. If the computer is off, goes into sleep mode, or drops the network connection, the printer will become unavailable for other computers.
We recommend DYMO authentic labels as we can guarantee they will work well with the printer without issue. Our labels reduce issues such as excessive feeding, label jams, and misaligned printing. Our labels provide the best user experience.
If you are still having issues (If you have more questions or feedback), please reach out to us via our website or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am - 5pm Eastern Time.
I needed a new printer for work since my old 400 died. When I purchased this I spent an hour trying to figure out why it wouldn't print. Come to find out, all of my old rolls of labels are incompatible with the 550. I found a 450 for cheap and just stuck with that. It was infuriating and there's no need outside of greed for Dymo to do this. Plus the printer app is terribly laid out. Either buy an old Dymo printer or one from another brand.

The new line is completely unusable and a waste of money. Only overpriced Dymo labels work because they're greedy. They claim that this is because other labels jam, but if that were true, people would already be buying Dymo labels, which are exactly the same anyway. Dymo Connect is the worst piece of software I have ever experienced using. Basically nothing functions and the software cannot reliably detect what type of labels are in the printer. Updates regularly make the printer not function with websites as it should. ANY OTHER PRINTER WOULD BE A BETTER CHOICE

Hi.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.
We want to inform you that LabelWriter 5 series printers are compatible with all DYMO Labels manufactured after April 2020.
To determine if your labels are compatible with the LabelWriter 5 series, please check the label's packaging or core. If the packaging is blue with two black dots next to the barcode or green with the recycling sign at the bottom left corner of the front part of the package, then the labels are compatible. Additionally, if there is a DYMO logo on the core of the labels, they are compatible with the LabelWriter 5 series.
If your labels are compatible, please power cycle the printer by removing the power, labels, and USB cable. Press the power button 15 times. Re-connect the power, insert the labels making sure they are aligned to the left and the perforations are on your left side. Press the forward button to feed one label then connect the USB cable and try to print a label.
Additionally, if the steps don't work, we recommend you clean the printer sensors by visiting help.dymo.com > Label Writer > How to clean my LabelWriter 5 series. Then set your computer setting region to the United States.
We recommend visiting help.dymo.com >Software >How to use DYMO Connect Software as we have a detailed guide on how to use the software. As regard your feedback about the easy navigation of the software we assure you that your feedback will be forwarded to the appropriate department for further review.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like how this printer doesn’t smear after printing labels. It prints fast and is easy to set up on my computer (Mac). I like the options on the app to change size, alignment, and add different characters.
Do not purchase this product!! We bought the 550 Turbo, which printed well for a short time on the small label rolls provided with the unit. Finding "authentic" DYMO labels is nearly impossible. When we did, they did not work either. As a business, we need reliability and supply availability. This product has neither. We are pursuing other options. Paying more to get relaibility. Please don't respond with standard language about "authentic" DYMO labels. That is not the problem.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Had it for a year; worked about three times. Lost days of my life trying to get it to work. Not fit for purpose. Shame on your DYMO. Pull them off the shelf and stop torturing customers.

Our very capable IT department was unable to get these printers to work consistently through our LAN. Dymo support says they don't work well through network switches and they have no network server software for this printer.

Hi, thank you for contacting us and for sharing your feedback.
We are sorry that our latest range of printers has not met your expectations.
Our LabelWriter 550 Turbo printers are compatible with LAN. However, the use of switches will lead to connection issues both with the printer and the label detection feature. We do not offer support for third party server networks as the printer has an inbuilt LAN port.
If you have any more questions, please reach out to us via our website or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am - 5pm Eastern Time.
