Because the rings do not meet when you try to use the binder with paper in it they catch on the center of the rings making it very awkward.

Rings don't hold up

I'm an admin for a non-profit. I've ordered about a dozen of these and none have held up to use for more than a month or so. Even with half the capacity of paper the rings don't close tightly and sometimes become unaligned. This causes a few pages in the middle of a stack to become loose but only on a hole or two.....so they stick out from the edge when you move the book and end up getting torn out all together. For the price I paid I expected much better quality. Very disappointing.
Purchased this item previously. Paid the higher price because previously the outer material of binder was able to last for the majority of the school year with daily use by my middle school student when I have seen other binders that are coming apart after a couple months use. I was disappointed that one of the rings never closed properly and my student's items were constantly falling out of the rings. We didn't discover until it was used for a couple of months so we never returned it. This year 19/20 we purchased another one thinking that maybe the item previously purchased was defective only to discover that again one of the rings wasn't closing completely again. This time I did return the item to the store for an even exchange. The binder looks ok but we will see how it works out. Otherwise I would have rated the item higher. I do think it is a "better binder" but If the issue repeats I will not purchase this binder again.
My kids use this as their primary binder at school -- good news it has lasted the entire first semester and hasn't had to be replaced. Considering one of my sons had gone through two heavy-duty binders by this time last year I am thrilled with the quality. Next year we will only buy this type.
