This is not a well-made item

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Do not be fooled by the Martha Stewart branding....the quality of this desk is appallingly low. It is much LOWER QUALITY than a similar item from Ikea, and much HARDER TO ASSEMBLE. The faux wood laminate is absolutely terrible. It looks like someone took a photo of bad laminate and pasted that photo on the surface of this desk, making the "wood grain" look like dull brown cheap plastic. The entire thing is not really even particle board, it is hard pressed paper basically, although that doesn't really make it any easier to re-drill all the off-kilter holes that are an insufficient depth. You will have a hard time if you think you can do this with just a manual screwdriver because of those insufficient holes being a fraction of the depth they need to be. To make things worse, some of the parts, such as drawer slides, which are supposed to be identical in length, were different lengths (and covered in grease, which gets everywhere). All of the drawers are installed crooked, due to millimeter differences in the holes and the drawer slides. I hate crooked drawers! They should come pre-assembled.
The instruction manual is appalling as well. It is full of wrong information, typos, misspellings, and poor quality illustrations that look large, but have microscopic details. And some steps of the instructions leave out key information that you are left to telepathically infer on your own. (I should point out that I am an experienced engineer who has worked on aircraft and satellites, and am very comfortable assembling flat pack furniture, and even I found this assembly to be miserable, so if you are less technically inclined, be prepared for difficulty.) They should be ashamed of slapping the Martha Stewart brand name on this low-quality, garbage desk. For what it's worth, I have seen some reviews that mentioned how high-quality and easy-to-assemble it was, and I can only assume those are fake, because no one in their right mind would call this a well-designed, high-quality item. This is not a well-crafted item.

Great desk

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this desk for my daughter and she loves it, it is a beautiful desk want to put together. It is the right size to get things done as far as schoolwork or crafts. However building it was a little bit of a pain. It took about three hours to put all the pieces together, but once it was finished, it looked fantastic. Definitely recommend.

Perfect desk

Assembly was easy enough to do independently with minimal tools required. The design is elegant and simple with plenty of storage in the drawers.

The desk itself is built very sturdy and has hardware included. Nothing on this desk looks cheaply made. I have gotten so many compliments about it in my home office

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We surprised my daughter with a big girl room and she really wanted a desk. I am so happy we purchased this. It’s got a modern flare to it and is super sturdy. Putting it together wasn’t bad at all, minus I had a little trouble with the drawers but I eventually was able to figure it out. It didn’t take me very long to finish the desk and it is a great height for my 7 year old daughter.
