I have a Genesis 1000 that is over 25 years old. I have replaced several sets of grates and flavorizor bars over the years. The original burners had been heating unevenly for a few years and finally wouldn't stay lit. Installing the new burner tubes was straightforward and the grill cooks like new again
Fixing our 1995 Weber Genesis 1000 was a wise decision. We shopped the current Weber models and were sadly disappointed by their quality and lack thereof compared to what we have. The repair was worth more than the cost of a comparable new Weber and we now hope to get another 20 plus years with this grill. Oh ya, this was our very first time ever replacing the burner tubes. THAT, IS QUALITY! When Made In The U.S.A. still meant something.
Of course burners work fine. The installation was more difficult than expectred. The two thumbscrews that hold controls to the bbq were rusted and corroded and could not be removed. Had to improvise a work around. permanent fix is to drill out the embedded screw shaft and replace with two nuts and bolts.
After 26 years it was time to replace a few parts. Some 15 years ago I replace the grilling surface with stainless steel & the flavorizer bars with stainless as well. Those are still in decent shape, but the burners are now falling apart. My order came quickly & it only took a few minutes to replace the old ones. Now I'm back in the grilling business.
Emailed customer service to help me pin down burner for very old grill. The responded prompty and the new burner works great in a 28 year old grill which is holding up remarkably well. Many thanks.
This was to replace a burner on a Weber that is over 20 years old. That a new burner is still available from the manufacturer is amazing in itself. The new burner fit perfectly, with no modifications, and the grill is now set for hopefully another 20 years. BTW, I always use a grill cover. Thanks Weber!!
