Have had this item for over a month and like the fact that it holds a good amount of water that can be utilized for 2-3 cleanings and that it also has a pressure gauge to allow for a customized cleaning. My only issue is the on/off switch is on the main reservoir and not on the handle so you have to have the waterpik utensil in one hand and the other hand to turn the on/off switch. After numerous uses, I have found this to be somewhat of a cumbersome approach for you need to have the pik in your mouth ready when you turn it on or it starts to shoot water all around. For the price it is a satisfactory item but could be better thought out from the on/off issue.
I tried the #1 setting and gradually increased to #4, but still poor results. what is the maximum setting you recommend?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thanks for your question! The pressure settings range from 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest). We recommend starting with a low setting as you have done, then gradually increasing the pressure as desired. Some customers do work up to use the higher pressure settings (8-10), but not everyone does so. It is up to each individual's preference and comfort level.
I am a SCL honors college graduate with a degree in nursing and have been unable to get this thing down pat. I think it would help if you could see what you are doing instead of having to do it with your mouth closed.
I purchased a new one two weeks ago to replace one that I had been using for five years. It had developed a crack or something that made water squirt out the top where it joins. I love this. So much better than flossing, and it feels really clean in my mouth when I finish.
I find it to be cumbersome. You offered $100 in gift bonus, for attachments (so many of these and so many of those) I only us one but can't buy 10 or 12 of just that one the. The curly cord is too short.
