This is the second Waterpik I have purchased in a few years. This newer version does not seem as sturdy or powerful as the previous unit. I have to keep it on a folded towel so the unit doesn't move around. I hope this one lasts me more than a year. This version is also noisier. After one year of use with the first model, the plastic holder for the wand or whatever it is called broke. I kept on using it but water would leak out. Then a crack developed in the tubing, so I had to buy a new one. If this one is problematic, I won't be buying anymore Waterpik products.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I got this because I was having trouble in my upper molar teeth because I have 2 crows right next to each other. It has made an amazing difference in my brushing and flossing routine. I no longer have bleeding when I floss.
Prior to buying my electric Waterpik, I had purchased a rechargeable-battery-powered Waterpik. It was good; this is great. In my experience, water flossing is much more effective than string flossing and is better for promoting gum health. Whether you have natural or artificial teeth, healthy gums or periodontal issues (as I do) or whether you have braces, this product has a suitable tip for your situation. The Waterpik is easy, convenient and pleasant to use. I'm so sold on it that I have two, one for home and one for the office!
I was happy to by this product, however the (cheap) stenciled on pause button only works sporadically on the low settings and not at all on the on the higher settings. If I load the reservoir with anything but cold water, it leaks all over. I have sensitive teeth and need to use warm to hot water, which relaxes the stopper and leaks all over. I appreciate the second unit for travel, but if you are going to give away something, give away the shower unit. I was going to buy the shower unit but after having this for three months and have to constantly clean up after using it, I have shied away.

I bought my WaterPik about 3 weeks ago and so far it is GREAT!! I have 2 implants and food always gets stuck. I can't believe how well the WaterPik cleans out all that debris. My mouth feels so clean and fresh afterward. The only thing I would change would be to make the curly cord attached to the wand a bit longer.
