I recently purchased this WP-100 to replace an earlier version which I had used for a number of years. I have been very pleased with the results of using the waterpik because it has kept my dental work to a minimum (twice a year cleaning). It is very easy to use. I have learned over several years that it is best to empty the water container after each use and drain any water in the tubing by running the unit briefly. That keeps it fresh and ready to use next time. It's also important to use it at least once daily (along with brushing your teeth) for the best dental results. For the most effective results, run the unit for a few seconds to permit the pulsations to engage fully and then apply it to your teeth (point it into the sink, switch on the handle then switch it off to place into your mouth and then switch it back on). Overall this product does a very effective job of maintaining and improving dental health.
There is an unexpected pulsing that comes from the machine when it is turned on. I didn’t expect this and would desire the option to pulse or steady stream. The machine is also much louder than expected, which makes nighttime use inconvenient when there are sleeping children on the other side of the wall! Additionally , not all of the attachments easily fit in the storage compartment in the lid of the water reservoir. Otherwise we are very happy with the unit and have actually come to very much look forward to water flossing time! We have found great improvement in our dental health and comfort.
It needs to be plugged in and unplugged at every use. There is no self charging. It is a bit troublesome when filling the reservoir because you either need a glass to fill with water, or pull the reservoir off and run under the faucet, which can cause the rubber gasket to move and then leak on the sink area. You must be careful how the tub/ reservoir pulls free from the base to prevent this. Overall the function of cleaning between the teeth is very appealing. It is amazing how much gunk gets stuck after meals!
The Waterpik does an excellent job cleaning my teeth. I took the Waterpik challenge and found my teeth as clean as after a dentist's cleaning.
Be sure and use lukewarm water. You'll get a shock if you use cool or cold water! During first use begin with a lower setting. The water comes out of the arm/tip quite fast and forcefully.
The counter top system has a lot of "stuff" sitting on the counter when it is in use. The handle with tubing, the base, the water reservoir, the top with the tips. The components will probably get wet during use. The nearby space as well.
When one is done flossing, all these components have their own place, the entire system fits neatly into a relatively small space.
The bottom line is that once the Waterpik begins sending high pressure water it does a fabulous job!
I love this. I love being able to adjust the pressure. Multiple attachments make it easy for you are targeting. It is a little noisy but you get not horrible. Beats Phillips Sonic Care.
