I received this grinder as a gift about 6 months ago. I am a welder and complain often about my corded grinder(which is a beast) because I have leads, ground cables, and other trip hazards around so the last thing I want is another cord to trip on.
I specialize in stairs and railings which, as you can imagine need to be clean as clean can be prior to paint or powder. I run, on average, 4-8 4 AH packs through this little guy 5-6 days a week so I believe at this point, I'm a qualified opinion.
Weight and Balance: Light weight. I actually think it's almost a little too light. I run the 4 AH packs partly for runtime, but also for heft. I like the balance better with the bigger pack. It's by no means bad with the smaller packs but my personal taste is to run the 4's.
Durability: This thing is beaten daily and still runs like new. No head noises, no loss of power. I have had 0 issues with the switch. Through steel, aluminum, and stainless it just grinds away.
There is visible wear on the rubber coating(meaning it's now smooth) which is to be expected with the level of use. It's been dropped, had things dropped on it, and even took a bath in Monster one day and it just keeps on ticking.
Battery life: I use everything from cuttoff wheels to flapdiscs, hard discs to sanding pads. Sanding pads by far have the greatest battery life. Cuttof wheels last forever if you're cutting light gauge, but it eats them cutting thick stuff. I break out the corded if cutting 1/4 or thicker. Flapdiscs are in the middle of the road and hard discs aren't bad as long as you don't lay on it. If you push the heck out of it, it's not too great.
Brake: This is great. I save my pads, and my table because I'm not constantly stopping the head on the table. It also doesn't kick much at all when the tool catches.
Guard: It's a guard. I'm sure it works however I can't speak on that. It's easy to take off(*DISCLAIMER: I recommend always using a guard when possible.) For my purposes a guard on any grinder is in my way. Mine is still shiny, unlike the rest of the grinder.
Summary: All in all a great grinder and a good purchase. My title says I will buy again because I will eventually wear it out. Judging by how it has performed, I'm guessing that won't be for a long time unless I drop something big on it. Good job Dewalt. Solid tool as always.

I currently use the brush version grinder but bought The brushless because I have read that you get more life out of the brushless version. So far so good.. I’m liking it!

With Dewalts brushless technology, engineering, and that famous yellow color this tool is on a bar of its own. It’s lightweight, fairly compact, user friendly, and if used correctly it’s safe with its easy to use guard and brake. Get a couple 5AH or larger batteries and won’t have a reason to stop except to change wheels (that won’t be often if use Dewalts high performance wheels).

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this because my old grinder was over 20 years old and I needed to cut off a lot of nails from scrap wood. I am so happy with this. I had no idea how good the battery powered tools have gotten. I will be buying more and am excited about the flexvolt line.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using most of times this grinder during my daily works as welder, I love the way it feel firm and powerful, combined with lightness and handiness. Also been using different grinder brands but none of them gave me the same feeling on terms of performances.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second 20V Max grinder. I own the DCG412B as well. This one is longer, but I find that it is at last easier to hold, and better balanced. My favorite part is that it has a "soft" brake when you let off the paddle. It spins the wheel down gently, yet quite quickly. The gearing that provides the angle transmission seem to mesh better than the gears in my other tool. This one is smoother and quieter.
Clearly this one has more power and spins faster as well. I haven't burned through a whole battery in one go yet, so I can't comment on runtime just yet, but it obviously isn't worse than my other tool. And of course I expect it to be better because, XR.

Cuts through 18G steel like paper. Batteries last pretty long actually. Just keep a spare around it you really have a lot to do. Spark guard is easy to maneuver, and the wheel lock is smooth and easy to change things out. Doesn't get hot. Really impressed so far.
