Love the 1040

I got my new Solar 1040 Edge a week ago. Have been loyal user of Garmin products for years and have owned Edge 705, 800, 1000, and 1030. Fact just finished solo tour across Europe from France to Romania a month ago. The thing I noticed straight away that I love is how fast the 1040 loads and the bigger support size fonts on display. Great new upgrade!

Poor Heart Rate Monitoring

I don't have a Garmin Watch to track my resting heart rate. When I start my ride, the Edge sets my resting heart rate at over 110 bpm which distorts my "Fitness Age." Very odd that Garmin software engineers aren't able to let the Customer manually set their actual resting heart rate.

The Bees Knees

I have been using this for the past month and it has met and exceeded all expectations. The new user interface and solar option have brought me back to Garmin after my affair with Wahoo. The addition of being able to set up activity screens on my phone makes the initial setup so much easier than before. Thank you Garmin for fixing the little things!

Works Great

The battery with solar charging seems to work great. I am using gps only. I had no problem with the signal. I did a 5 hour ride Sunday and when I turned it off it still had 92% battery left. Also I like the display while riding a course it shows the terrain in the bottom and when the climbing gets steep climb pro kicks in to show the details of the climb

Cannot ride without my Garmin. Feel lost if it's not there! The screen is large enough for my eyes to see and it's easy to use. Thank you Garmin!!!

I love my new Solar 1040 Edge, the display is nice and sharp an easy to read. New setup feature is awesome, an love the metal tabs, and usb-c charging port. With all the new features and solar charging this is the complete package.

Easy to program display

I upgraded from my Edge 1000 to the Edge 1040 Solar.
LOTS OF IMPROVED CHAGES.
The display is so improved with bigger, darker type and you can add up to 10 different information displays on one screen if you wish. I like 7.
The battery now with solar is great. I use to run out of power on long rides. Not no more.

Amazing battery life

I was constantly having to charge my older computers on long rides, just finished a 253 mile ride and the 1040Solar still had 70% battery left.
