Love all KitchenAid!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 7 year old blender and it needed to be replaced. Since I have all new KitchenAid appliances I thought I would get their blender. So far, I am very pleased. The ice crunches in a flash, the smoothies are very creamy and it washes well. I highly recommend.

Simple controls with good ice crusher

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had to replace 25+ year old blender. Wanted two main features: 1) Simple controls, as I had no need for the 10 buttons labeled with meaningless synonyms of the old blender. (Do I want to "grind", "mix" or "frappe"?? Who cares?) and 2) good ice crushing so we could try some blended drinks.
This gave us both #1 and #2, in spades. There's only 3 speeds - more than enough - plus a special ice crushing option. The gradual spin-up for the speed settings wasn't something I knew about ahead of time, but turns out to be really useful, too. No sudden surge causing liquids to erupt. The fact that the blades are integrated into the pitcher is also a feature I didn't know I wanted - but having always been annoyed with the old blender's base + rubber washer + blade assembly I immediately grasped the value of the all-in-one pitcher. The pitcher is also broader than our old blender, which also reduces the likelihood of a blade vortex pushing liquid up and out. The ice crushing setting does a great job with (so far) up to 10 ice cubes at a time. Haven't tried going with a higher number yet, but the yield is very "snow-cone-ish" in consistency rather than being too chunky or too slushy.

Worked great for 6 months then rust

The blender base and motor are fantastic. It seems solid and well built but the pitcher blades are rusting already even though I keep it clean and dry
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

finally a decent blender

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] so far I love it! I’ve used it to liquidize hot soups and it has done it perfectly. I also love that unlike previous blenders I’ve had, this one comes in one piece … so none of that threatened leakage if the base is not screwed on perfectly tightly. also - the appliance is light weight - which for me means I don’t need to leave it on my counter where space is limited as it is easy to pick up and store in a below the counter cabinet.
