I love this little machine. It’s affordable, simple, light weight , dependable and so easy to use. I think it is one of the best value purchases I have ever made. If you sew for hobby (I make a lot of quilts) or just like to sew some of your own clothing or home accents, you can’t go wrong with this machine. For years I was a professional seamstress with a fancy machine – but this Brother is more a joy to work with than my other machine

Disappointed

This is my third Brother sewing machine. I was very pleased with my first two. This one has entirely too much plastic in the bobbin assembly. The bobbin rattles when sewing. The auto threading feature is difficult to use and doesn’t look like it will last long. I was very disappointed with the cheap construction and this will be my last Brother.

Great for beginners

I absolutely love this machine, it includes everything it says, normally I would think its not really that good right? But when i picked it up, I was amazed, it really is light weight, and after the first stitch, I immediately fell in love with this machine. Lightweight, simple to use, easy threading and bobbin winding, extremely quick setup, easy to maintain, and all sorts of amazing stitches to chose from! Ive been sewing pillows with it and I made one for my sister with her name on it and she loves it. I do love the LED work light, and the blade around the left side makes a lot easier trimming the thread, the controls are easy to use, no messing around with it it sewed perfectly brand new without even touching the adjustments. And the ease of maintenance too! Every night when im done i unscrew the plate thing and clean out the bobbin case with a brush to keep this thing going. And it says it is jam resistant and It actually is, it has only jammed once but thats because my beginner cousin didnt know how to use it yet. The only thing i dont like it how loud it is, but I still insist you buy this machine. I love it.

Awesome sewing machine

I am a beginner and i brought this machine recently. It is very easy to sew with it. Has lots of options that come with it. I have not had any trouble with threading or bobbins. The built in light and thread cutter are awesome features. The free arm is great for sewing sleeves, skirts etc. I have just started learning sewing and have not had any trouble with this machine. It has markings which show threading information. Its pretty much self explanatory. The only thing i havent figured out yet is how to use the built in needle threader but thats because i havent read the manual yet. Love this machine

It's a beast to deal with and within 7 months the tension cannot be set anymore.

I despise this machine

It continuously gets bogged down with lint from the thread and fabric. When this happens it fails to sew correctly and I have to use compressed air to blow it all out of there.
Also, I'll be sewing along doing just fine on a zigzag stitch and from out of nowhere, in the middle of a line of stitching it decides to do a straight stitch. If I could go buy a different machine today I would smash this one with my hammer. Will I ever purchase another Brother machine? Probably not.
