Won't charge

Have had these packs on the charger for over 6 hours. The LEDs blink as if charging, but once I install them the camera won't operate and indicates low battery. I will be returning them

BEWARE! Watch your battery packs when charging!!!

I absolutely LOVE my Tactacam Reveal X 3. 0 cameras. However, there is a HUGE problem! I have been having issues with the rechargeable battery packs and I bought extras just so that I could keep charged batteries to swap out with those in the field. I have been finding that when I put fully charged batteries in the field, that the cameras are reporting anywhere from 5 to 8 percent up to maybe 30 percent charge. I came home today and plugged up two of the batteries to charge and verified that the lights came on the batteries showing that they were charging. Thank god that I was sitting in my office working (where the batteries are also charging) because about 90 minutes went by when I started smelling what smelled like burning wire and plastic. When I got close to the battery packs, I could smell it EXTREMELY strong and noticed that one had a huge melted bubble area around the charging port. The other one had a very small circle developing above the charging port. I immediately unhooked them and took them outside (don't want my house burned down)! I began to wonder if there was maybe a specification about the max power that they should be charged with (like a slow charger (5V-1A) or if a typical charger for today is okay (5V-1. 85 to 2. 5A). I could find NOTHING on Tactacam's website but an AI search says that users are reporting this issue and to not use anything more than a 5V-1A charger (are these even sold anymore???) Long story short, I may have 5 battery packs that are absolute toast and they aren't even 6 months old! I see this as being a HUGE liability to Tactacam to not include an appropriate charging adapter and/or AT LEAST making it ultra clear that customers should ONLY use a certain volt/amp of charger! I am incredibly disappointed and thank God that I was in my office with these batteries and not already in bed asleep or gone!

Never have to charge battery cartridge. Solar panel keeps it charged 100%.

Lithium cartridge

The lithium battery cartridge has been a nice edition to my camera arsenal. I’m not sure that they outperform off the shelf lithium or even NI-Cad batteries but the ability to recharge quickly is a nice feature. For high activity areas sending hundreds of photos a day I consider these a good investment - but recommend buying two per camera for easy swaps.

Cost Effective - Not App Friendly

I got this because I am sick of buying batteries. We installed this panel and it works great, after two weeks have about 51% charge. My only issue with Reveal's solar panels is that in order to get it to recognize on the app as an external power source, you have to do this little trick with an empty original battery pack, something we don't usually carry on us way out in the woods, so we can't monitor the solar panel via the app until we slog all the way out there and do "the trick. " There shouldn't have to be a trick involved when pairing accessories to the camera.
