I was skeptical at first for sure. A saw this small didn't seem like it would make the cut on our jobsites. A few initial challenging cuts showed that it lacked a little power and bound easily.
However.... when you use it for the right application it's unbeatable. Smaller stock will be shredded by it and I really appreciate the shallow blade depth for safety and clearance reasons. This saw really shined on this last Trex deck we built. We trimmed every board, cut every length, made every miter on this little beauty. The deck turned out wonderful and we all were stoked on how light and portable this saw was during the job. The added belt hook is also a big deal to us when walking around and trying to keep hands free.
Well done Dewalt!

not as expected

just arrived, feels top heavy so I put my 20/60V battery in it to level the tool a little better but won't stand up balanced, was expecting it to feel more like the multi tool as far as balance,weight and grip. Not sure if I want to keep, I am a very big fan of all my DEWALT tools just was expecting tool feel better in the hand
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Compact Circular Saw w Very Long Handle

Just bought last week and was very impressed with the power & capability in such a lightweight package. The long handle is great for ripping sheets, floor demo and staying on line etc. The dust port is also surprisingly effective. Yes finding additional blade options will require searching & purchasing online for time being but for demo, ripping and even vertical cutting it is far better than using a traditional circular saw. Far safer and more stable than using a grinder. The only things that would make this saw better would be a laser guide, wider blade availability & Selection and the ability to swivel the long handle 180 degrees so that you could continue your cuts into corners and tight spaces when doing demo work etc.

One small flaw...

I bought this for cutting oak fence boards. It does a good job cutting 1 1/2 oak boards. My only issue is the allen key that is attached. It’s to loose and comes off way to easy. Mine came off and is now MIA. Otherwise a well built tool and very useful when cutting especially in hard to cut places.

lightless/laserless lightsaber

really liking it so far. almost perfect but it would be nice to have the same form factor with a bigger blade. would also be pretty cool to have a laser or light. the shoe/table has better markings/actual notches for lining the saw up with the measured piece so you dont have to stare directly at the blade and i feel i get a much straighter cut freehanding without needing a track or speed square. the plastic guard is as good as a guard needs to be to keep you safe and weighs less than metal making this thing feel like a lightsaber, it is so light. its pretty scary how light these saws are, they really do feel like toys compared to the saws of yesteryear... but not in a bad way of course... apart from the size of the cut. the safety trigger is far better than the safety buttons of many other circular saws for reasons that need not be explained. having a belt hook on this thing totally completes the jedi feeling, never before has a professional grade circular saw ever been this mobile. would be nice to have bigger blade cap but this is the saw youll take up the ladder or use above your head. you probably wont be cutting 4by with this

Just bought today did not like that the blade guard is plastic, the rip fence is sloppy, The trigger lock is awkward as with all dewalt tools. The dust port has a friction connection that could be a problem with coming off. The top handle is uncomfortable to grip. What I think is the top handle should be more round and a rip fence that attached to the front and rear would give better control. The trigger lock should be on the top of the handle and the hanging hook should be on the opposite side of the blade. The center line is hard to see and there is no light or laser line which would be nice. A little overpriced for the features it has but it is very portable.
